Devaluation of Human Life

      • Right now it is only 5-12 day embryos
      • When science discovers it is impossible to produce organs/tissues in the absence of surrounding developmental processes, scientists will demand the tissues be allowed to "mature" prior to harvest

Most laws allowing embryonic stem cell research restrict the use of embryos that are only a couple weeks old. However, my prediction is that science is going to be unable to produce the tissues they need purely through in vitro culture. Once it is found that the development of useful tissues requires the surrounding developmental processes, scientists will demand that the tissue be allowed to "mature" prior to harvest. A notable exception to the current laws is the New Jersey law, which allows human cloning and implantation into a female, as long as the fetus is killed prior to birth. Welcome to the brave new world!
