Re: The God Delusion
I believe the reason is that by definition, a maximally great being must exist in all possible worlds if he exists in any possible world. If one agrees that the Christian God could possibly exist in a possible world, then that maximally great being would also exist here because he's maximally great....

Re: When Did Adam Live?
Interesting discussion, but I'm still not sure why Adam must have been from 6000 years ago. Why not longer?

Re: IF YEC is True, Why So Much Evidence Pointing to OEC?
Hi again Jac. Thanks for the reply. I think you have me exactly backwards. When I talk about a "framework," I am NOT talking about a theological framework, but rather that SCIENTIFIC framework. So what motivation do Christians have to misinterpret the data? A GREAT motivation. In fact, the...

Re: IF YEC is True, Why So Much Evidence Pointing to OEC?
Hi Jac, thanks for your thoughtful comments throughout this thread. A couple points/questions. But more importantly, I challenge your premise. I don't think that people are "sincerely trying to correctly interpret the data." I think that they are interpreting it within their accepted frame...

Re: Islam ?
Ok, so perhaps a fair conclusion to the question "why to atheists, Christians, jews, agnostics, etc. convert to Islam?" would be: Because Islam fullfills a human desire. Perhaps anger in the case of a prisoner. Structure in the case of someone who feels Christianity lacks structure. Maybe ...

Re: Islam ?
Thanks FL. Perhaps I confused you. I don't believe Christianity is to easy. I'm saying perhaps new Muslim converts think its to easy, as in, they believe God would want them to conform and be subjected to strict rules. Where as Christianity doesn't really have that. We are free to pray whenever and ...

Re: Islam ?
NEW QUESTION :esmile:  Ok, I listened to some videos by Nabeel. Very interesting. In them he mentioned something like 10,000 people convert to Islam in the US per year. That struck me as very high. So I googled around to read about these people who have written their testimonies. Previously in...

Re: New fossil in Newfoundland makes the Cambrian explosion.
Hey Paul, I'm writing from my phone, so sorry to default to RTB, but their model of the creation days is roughly how I view it. The C explosion was likely the start of one of the days (periods).

Re: New fossil in Newfoundland makes the Cambrian explosion.
Well that's not really a surprise Paul, because they are assuming it must be evolution. But from my perspective I think the abrupt explosion of life points towards day age creationism stronger today more than it did yesterday. I doubt this discovery will change the minds of scientists.

Re: New fossil in Newfoundland makes the Cambrian explosion.
Hmm, works for me but I did post from my phone.
Google 'Newfoundland fossil' and any of the latest news describes a fossil with the 'earliest known muscle'.

New fossil in Newfoundland makes the Cambrian explosion...
Even more difficult. See the link. http://www.cbc.ca/m/news/canada/newfoundland-labrador/n-l-fossil-shows-earliest-evidence-ever-of-animals-with-muscles-1.2747320 If I understand it right then the signs of complex life are pushed back even earlier making the Cambrian explosion even more explosif. I ...

Re: Islam ?
Thanks all.
As it turns out, RTB just posted a podcast about this subject! It confirmed that the moderate Muslims simply aren't checking their own facts closely. I like Ken Samples but this Travis guy he's been including on the show is excellent. He provides great information.

Re: Islam ?
Ok so then are the 'normal' Muslims just living in a self-lie? Do they just pretend these Shia rules don't exist? Seems to me they must, or somehow justify it in their head or something. I know a lot of Christians don't tackle the OT because of some of the difficult subject matter, however I myself ...

Raising this issue another way
Ok, with the recent beheading of James Foley, I started to dig into this subject again, but more in a morbid sense. I started to wonder how real these radicals are like ISIS. Turns out these people are wicked, evil, sick murderers. Who knew? y#-o Seriously, I didn't actually realize how evil these p...
