The flesh rots and dies, but the spirit inside of us is always eternal. The Holy Spirit leads us to eternal glory and the spirit of the devil leads us to eternal torment. I find it interesting though, that the ones who defy God the most are the ones who complain the loudest about eternal torment. I ...

I have to say, at least he is consistent. I have yet to hear a "moral atheist" explain the basis for his morality, (or for that matter his "reason".) So am I to understand that you don't understand morailty? Human reasoning is always fallible because the mind of man is f...

Ah, the theories that come from the fallible minds of men. Each generation, of course, thinks their theories can be proven until the next generation proves them wrong. And that's why the age of the earth is always chaninging.

The thing is Carico, they believe they do believe the Bible. Unfourtunatley thier 'bible' comes straight from the the papacy and not from the Holy Spirit. A disclaimer though, I do not believe this is true of all catholics, just the ones who blindly follow the teaching of man without looking it up ...

"Such then in number and importance are the precious ties belonging to the Christian name which keep a believer in the Catholic Church, as it is right they should ... With you, where there is none of these things to attract or keep me... No one shall move me from the faith which binds my mind ...

Don't misunderstand me. Salvation is a work of God. Look at the flowchart I posted. With exception to belief and repentance, both of which operate in entirely different spheres, everything on that list is a work of God. We are justified, regenerated, elected, sanctified, adopted, glorified, etc. al...

The Bible has many seeming contradictions within its pages. For example, the four Gospels give four differing accounts as to what was written on the sign that hung on the cross. Matthew said, “This is Jesus the King of the Jews” (27:37). However, Mark contradicts that with “The King of the Jews” ...

God has told us that we all deserve death because we sin. And that is why we are mortal. He also repeatedly warned people in the OT what would happen to them if they sinned. But they repeatedly ignored Him. Even animals know not to bite the hand that feeds them. :)

Re: "Seven Reasons NOT to Ask Jesus into Your Heart&quo

I recently came across one of the greatest little booklets of all time . . . it's called Seven Reasons NOT to Ask Jesus into Your Heart , by Dennis Rosker, pastor of Duluth Bible Church. Summary as follows: #1 Don't ask Jesus into your heart because IT IS NEVER FOUND IN THE BIBLE. #2 Don't ask Jesu...

I reject all five points of TULIP. Broadly, I see the correct understand in relation to each point as follows: Total Depravity - While we affirm that man is both dead in his sins and naturally hostile to God, we reject the notion that man is incapable of a positive response to the drawing of the Ho...

Re: Is Calvinism a Heresy?

Not only have I heard of Calvinism (and 4 point Calvinists, the supposed influence of Calvinism on early American colonialism, including but not limited to the idea of capitalism itself, Spurgeon's Calvinism, the hyper-Calvinism of the Particular Baptists, all the way down to Geisler's 0-point Calv...

I agree that Catholics are Christians, and although I come from a Catholic backround, I really havent studied the scriptures enough to really comment upon their beliefs and doctrines... But I believe Catholics are saved, but you dont necessarily have to be one to be saved. Also, Catholics do not pr...

Re: Bible contradictions

I found some on http://quinnell.us/religion/reasons/contradictions.html Who here can explain that they are not contradictions? They aren't contradictions. You simply haven't read them carefully. In genesis 1:27, God says that he created male and female. In Genesis 2:22-23, God explains how and when...

I was in a discussion the other day concerning how to mark the Sabbath Day seventh day rest per year. A point came up that was interesting about the Sabbath that I am not sure about ... Point: To determine the true sabbath day rest one counts 7 days from passover to mark the true 7'th day rest. Fea...

Re: Cruelty in the OT

Hello everyone, How would you respond to people who point out to atrocities in the OT such as the ones in this website? http://home.sprynet.com/~owl1/biblequotes.htm I respond by asking them how they are qualified to judge who's innocent? Since we are all guilty, then we are not in a position to ju...
