Re: Should this lynching victim be blamed?
It's justice, u777. As the Creator, God knows what is right and wrong, what is just, for the universe, world, humans he created.

Re: The Nature of God - Omnipresence
I haven't had a chance to look into this yet, so does anyone know why JWs argue against God's omnipresence? My friend got back to me on FB. He said that they take anthropomorphic metaphor (my choice of words) (such as in, "Our Father who art in heaven ...") literally - obviously while ign...

Re: Should this lynching victim be blamed?
None at all. He was murdered, and his words don't mitigate that fact. Was he unwise? Duh! But his lack of wisdom doesn't attach any blame to him, as far as I'm concerned.
I was not quite 3YO when this happened. What is the purpose in bringing this up 5 1/2 decades after the fact?

Re: Archeological find from King David's era...
Interesting indeed! One thing I think many folk do not understand re archaeology in the Middle East is the impact of ~2 1/2 millennia of wars and conquests. From the time of Hezekiah (and working from my imperfect memory) the neighborhood of Jerusalem was overrun/conquered by the Assyrians, Babyloni...

Re: The Nature of God - Omnipresence
Ucky duck ... re a couple of JWs' "proof-texts" SoA cited ... at least a couple are kind of ironic. Before going there, however, it should be pointed out that even when God states heaven to be His dwelling place, this does not preclude God being also present throughout creation. So the WTB...

Re: The Nature of God - Omnipresence
SoA, thanks for doing the research. In my mind there are two levels to the question of why the WTB&TS (that's the source and authority for witnesses' doctrines and understanding of the Bible). The first level is what scriptures do they cite to support a teaching, and your research is very helpfu...

Re: The Nature of God - Omnipresence
This is a topic that I really haven't given a lot of thought to, as such, since the late 60s in Confirmation class. God is omnipresent; He's everywhere; He's the Creator, so why not; "simple" enough. So I was looking through the pertinent section of Wayne Grudem's Systematic Theology to se...

Re: masoretic texts vs septaugint
As some of you are aware that the majority of the English bibles we use (including KJV) translate the O.T from the Masorectic text (dated at at max earliest 9th century - 11th century), and not from Septuagint (dated old 200 - 300 B.C) which is significantly older. And that is why we always see the...

Re: Oh no not another Trinity Thread!!!
Here is the thing about God, if he "can't" be something then He is not God, is He? If God can't be divisible ( whatever that means) He is not God because, if a being that exists CAN be divisible then that being can do something God can't and as such, God is can't be viewed as God anymore....

Re: The Nature of God - Omnipresence
As RickD said on A2E's thread and WhoIsJohnGalt said on RO, the good thing about threads such as A2E started here and there is that we can learn from each other and meditate on God's word, nature and character. Not sure how well it worked out for the body-building, boxing, and horse-ring forums on w...

Re: The Nature of God - Omnipresence
That was the psalm I quoted but got no response from A2E I did also on RO, but in the context of showing that the Scriptures call the Holy Spirit God and attribute to the Holy Spirit a unique aspect of the nature of God. Her response was the sound of one cricket chirping. In looking at Psalm 139:1-...

The Nature of God - Omnipresence
In compliance with RickD's request, I'm splitting this aspect of the discussion with A2E into a new thread. From one of A2E's final posts, regarding Jeremiah 23:24: At the response in question (the weblink is provided above), I directed Danieltwotwenty's attention to the context of Jeremiah 23:24 (t...
