Re: Pro-Life: The Logical Stance Belief or Non-Belief

You've really answered nothing here. All you've shown is that you are ignorant (by your own admission) of what constitutes a person. One fact is that the MOMENT the ovum and wriggly unite, then all the genetic information that makes up the person is already there. (Instantly) If you are going to ar...

Re: Atheism: Belief or Position?

And our universe has a beginning does it not? Which science supports. So we have a material/physical universe that changes from one state to the next that is not eternal. If it were eternal then it would be in a change less "steady state". Um...so "If a universe falls over in the dar...

Re: Atheism: Belief or Position?

I'll let Jac respond to his own. But this (timelessness = no change) is a fundamental often hidden premise in William Craig's Kalam argument that I find many do not get. Why can't the universe or matter be the eternal something? Why posit God? The response is that unintelligent matter that has no w...

Re: Atheism: Belief or Position?

* Raises hand * Hello. :) Sorry to have come into the thread very late. Time is nothing more than the measurement of change. Where there is no change, there is no time. This idea/concept has me intrigued. Can you offer a possible example of some where/thing that has experienced no change and hence/p...

Re: Pro-Life: The Logical Stance Belief or Non-Belief

Then by all means, please clarify your position. What do these stages mean in regards to the various "colors" you mention, and how does that keep this from being black an white. Person - not a person. My 'position'? (Jk: Sitting at a desk, typing on a key-board/computer) Sorry if I wasn't...

Re: Pro-Life: The Logical Stance Belief or Non-Belief

You could say the same thing about postnatal. Infancy, adolescence, adulthood, geriatric. You are making an inference here, so please be clear about what you mean. ? Sorry...I thought I was agreeing with your comment/statement that there are well worked out and agreed upon 'stages' through out the ...

Re: Pro-Life: The Logical Stance Belief or Non-Belief

The status of the unborn and their biology, I think the science is quite clear. I do totaly agree with the highlighted part of your comment and agree in general principal with the whole statement. What comes of that is where we make it complicated. Again, I do agree with your statement here. Now, a...

Re: Pro-Life: The Logical Stance Belief or Non-Belief

*Waves* :)

I have, indeed, glanced over it. Though constraints on available time disallow a detailed kind of comment.

My quickest line is that it's a very, very complicated and complex issue. Whole shades of colours and not just black and white.

Very much cheers to all.

Re: How do we know that there is only one god?

Dear Philip, We've strayed from the original poster's comments and question. We've also rambled across a couple of different points within our replies to one another. My initial point was that...With out the knowledge of said disappeared faiths beliefs. We have no way of knowing of where to even beg...

Re: How do we know that there is only one god?

I'm pretty sure none of the Greek mysteries survive to the modern day. We simply have no idea (Other than pretty much the names of their gods) as to what specifically they claimed or worshiped. So, we're to believe that Greek gods followed long ago, who have been unable to protect and perpetuate th...

Re: How do we know that there is only one god?

Um...just to point out something to Philip but, We've also had many hundreds of years of worshipers of that certain gods worshipers going about and deliberately destroying any and all works of every and any other belief they can/could get their hands on. (Up to and including some in today's world) T...

It's a neat and pithy quote.

Though he has to put DNA letters inside parenthesis. ;)

Re: You Might Be a Fundamentalist Atheist if...

Dudeacus mentioned atheists are insulting and mocking. You wrote an example on car mechanics. My use of the car-mechanics was to further the example of how there are different uses of the language. That there is/are 'Technical' levels and then there are 'Common' levels of word/language use. Well, I...

Re: You Might Be a Fundamentalist Atheist if...

Well, title does not mean you are some god or what Sorry...not sure where this response came from in relation to what I've written? I think perhaps the meanings and intents are not coming through in my words as I see this as a reply. Sorry about being muzzied. Besides, there are many bright people ...
