Re: It’s history, not science
We of course could have a discussion about Adam and Eve having children and then what? Well apparently brothers and sisters got together, then cousins? We could also have a discussion about God and eternal darkness before he created light... saw that it was good.... Wait, did he create his own eyes...

Re: Noah's ark
As I see it, most salt in the oceans is from land runoff, so at that time, it was probably much less salty than today. As for fresh and saltwater fish , either could live in fresh water for a time, especially if the oceans did not become so salty for another millennia or two. I think you missed the...

Re: The history of the Church and Evolution.
Remember, until something is found it just means it is "lost" or not yet found, not that it doesn't exist. Lets take the exodus for example: Some suggest that IF it happened to the degree it did ( massive population displacement) that there MUST be SOME evidence of it. The Exodus is a goo...

Re: Noah's ark
The "anchor stones"... Who put those crosses on them? Christian admirers? Pagans? I don't think Noah's family did. They are Pagan symbols regardless of who put them there. Why are the stones scattered over an area? Did the ropes fail? Nothing of the ark failed until it rested. The hole in...

Re: Noah's ark
But according to YEC, the sun wasn't even created until the 4th day. So, for at least the first 3 days, according to YEC, there is nothing to mark evening and morning. A day of 24 hours is only a 24 hour day because it takes the earth 24 hours to spin on its axis. And the earth spins on its axis be...

Re: Noah's ark
Are we stating that every single species of animal on the WHOLE planet, was on that ark? a male and a female? ( obviously of those that do not require a mate to propagate, only one was needed). I am curious, was the flood fresh water or salt water by the way? As I see it, most salt in the oceans is...

Re: The history of the Church and Evolution.
Now, you mention "perfect for its intended purpose" and on that I agree. The purpose of the bible is to point to Christ and IF it does that, then it is perfect for its purpose. One problem: If you can't count on the basic history of the bible to be true, how much less so the spiritual par...

Re: Noah's ark
I understand the mentality of YECs, because I was one. They get it drilled in their head continuously that anything except YEC is wrong, anti bible, anti God, pro evolution, etc. It's not until I started to study on my own, that I started to see that there's another interpretation of scripture that...

Re: The history of the Church and Evolution.
I believe God may have guided them on the important bits, but he may also may not have guided them, who knows except God, and if he did I believe it would only have been the theological points, the why of it, the how of it was not important and is still not important to this day. I think God more i...

Re: Can of worms time.
Ok this might be a little contraversial but lets have it then. What is the reason why YEC's believe that the Universe is 10,000 or 6000 years old apart from a literal interpretation of the Bible? What evidence is there from a general revelation point of view - or from natural theology if you were t...

What are the major costs of running a small business, say a grocery store? 1. Mortgage or lease. 2. Inventory. 3. Labor and benefits. 4. Taxes and fees, not counting sales tax. 5. Supplies, clerical, janitorial, etc. So far, how many of these are fixed and which are negotiable? Labor and employee be...

Re: Affordable Care Act/Obamacare
The best thing that we and our state governments can do is refuse to join the new system. If you can afford to not have insurance for a while, don't get any. The Republicans in DC are wasting their time if they try to repeal the law. They need to refuse to fund any implementation of it, like the bor...

If we haven't offended anyone throughout the day, we haven't talked about anything important.

Re: Rapture timing?
Three things. Look up "DAY OF THE LORD" in the old testament. I believe its in there twice, in Malachi and Zechariah. You don't want to be taken on that day for sure, because those people are going to death and judgment. Thief in the night - John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to stea...

Re: Duck Dynasty guy offends gay people with scripture
But all that is beside the point, because Robertson's firing wasn't a matter of governmental action. It was the decision of a private business to terminate its commercial relationship with an individual because they don't want to be associated with the values that individual espouses. Three cheers ...
