Re: Explaining it.
Can we have some more information on this person? You said she wants to believe in a god, maybe even The God. So, why does she want too? Also, are her only reasons to be against it based entirely on high school science classes? Or is there more to it? If its based on science, you could always talk ...

Re: Black and white or shades of Grey?
It's not morals, at least not what we think of as morals. God's Law is beyond morality. Sin isn't an evil act, although an evil act is a sin. A sin is a failure to reach a standard. That's why they used a word that literally meant to miss a target in archery. I'm not saying morality isn't a part of ...

Re: The Earth is 6000 years old?
Now that that's settled, I got a question (as always), this might be worth an entire thread but since it's mostly just aimed at YECers I don't know if it's worth it or not: How do Young Earth Creationists Interpret Genesis 2:4, specifically the use of the the world "Toledoth"? Am I misunde...

That's a shame, I had just been wondering where you had went the other day.
Best wishes, and I hope you find what you're looking for.

Re: Ridiculously Basic Questions
Okay, I think I get it. Thanks for all the answers, guys. So, how would you define this set of beliefs?: *God did make the Earth and the universe via the Big Bang *God did create life. He also set forth the creation of each kind, using preexisting life forms to do it. *God did make Adam and Eve as ...
Re: Aliens
Yes SeekingSanctuary I commented that I thought that Christians at times waste their energy on the unimportant, then went on to state what I believe is important to Our Father, but yeah I can go on a bit at times, I put it down to being passionate, others may put it down to being a pain in the *** ...
Re: Aliens
First, Melanie, I respect you for not wanting to get into an argument on semantics and having higher priorities, and I do agree with your view of the historical church's want/need/demand to be right. That said: You typed what looks like a page explaining why you weren't going to waste time on it. An...

Re: Ridiculously Basic Questions
The difference is really just about whether molecules-to-man evolution is true. PC says it is not, that God created through moments of special creation. TE says it is. That's pretty much it. As far as God being subordinate to time, I'm not aware of how that is true. I certainly seems that most OEC/...

Re: Does Proof of God Lead to Christianity?
That's Christian theology, but the idea of forgiveness always requiring sacrifice is not very intuitive. What if I said I needed to kill a rabbit and have a person accept the death of that rabbit each time I needed to forgive a person? Any logical person would say "Why the **** did you have to...

Re: Boltzmann brain
Okay, I'll try to explain it but I maybe wrong on half of this. Hana is way more qualified here, but: The Boltzmann Brain is basically some "thing" that arises out of chaos, thanks to random chance. Depending on who is describing it, it either a self-aware thing or literally just a human b...

Re: Ridiculously Basic Questions
Yes and I agree with everything you said. This isn't a crisis of faith, I just want to know why the two groups feel they are different enough to need different labels. I agree with you on the time thing too. I see no reason why His method of choice put force Him into some kind of subordinate positio...

Ridiculously Basic Questions
Okay, so I did some reading on the Creation Wiki and skimmed an article on the main page, and I have a question for you guys: In OEC views, I can see how Gap-Theory is different. The presence of a, well, gap. God made a world, there was a huge act of God after the Fall corrupted everything, and the ...

Re: Uncaused first cause
Kenny, I'm just trying to understand where you're coming from. When I understand why someone is answering a certain way, it helps me have a more productive conversation with him. Kinda like trying to walk in someone else's shoes, to understand him better. I wasn't trying to discredit any argument b...
