Re: bible stories

First, Bigburger, I love your username. No idea why, I just love it a lot. Secondly, you'd be surprised the info you pick up here. Here's some stuff I got from a guy name Bippy, seriously if you are reading a thread by that guy read every single word they are usually packed with info and explained i...

Re: The first cause thing

Yeah, but we covered most of the same info. Your post could do the same thing mine does for the most part.

Re: The first cause thing

Life from non-life Life comes from non-life all of the time, unless you consider an egg and sperm (or their composite substances while being manufactured) to be alive. Labs have made basic chemicals into self-replicating chains, and also birthed life outside of the womb. Unless you argue magic goes...

Re: What’s the worst that could happen?

I agree that humans are good and generally try to do good, admittedly far from always. The problem isn't in that, so much as it is capacity for good. They don't know everything, and what little information they have is biased from their own beliefs and experiences. You can have the best intentions i...

Re: What’s the worst that could happen?

You guys ever see a thread and just sort of follow it because it seems interesting but you don't bother posting because you don't feel like adding anything? And then you just stop reading it for a day or two, maybe longer because, well, life? Then you get back and holy crap what went wrong? We went ...

Re: Uncaused first cause

My problem comes from the claim that the Universe came into being, or that the Universe was actually created. Question: How do you feel about the Big Bang Theory? People who know a whole lot more about astronomy than I do, claim that is the best explanation avaliable; have see reason to assume othe...

Re: Doubts with my faith

Let me ask you a few questions so I can understand your beliefs better. Others here will probably way more help, but I might be able to get the ball rolling.

First, why do you find it unbiblical?

Why do you think the 'week of creation' is meant to be taken literally?

Re: Tim Hawkins

Maybe, I saw a Christian comedian a while back I liked but I don't remember his name. He did a bit about Lazarus not wanting to come out, and pantomimed a guy moving around tied up in a burial shroud. Was that this guy?

Re: Did Jesus have long hair?

I can understand learning from the bible, that's now what I'm asking. I'm asking do you apply everything in the bible to your life? Or do you assume some stuff is written for specific people and is only meant to be applied to them. In other words; is there a lot of stuff in the Bible like this lett...

Re: Why does God let satan have nearly all human souls?

First you are far from the only one to struggle with this. Since the beginning of Christianity this has been a nagging issue in the writings. Look at the apocryphal Revelation of Peter (the one that isn't Gnostic), want to know how it ends? Jesus tells Peter not to worry to much about Hell, it'll be...

Re: Questions on Faith

As for the Old Covenant it is written in Romans 7 that by it, we learn about sin, and it defines the fruit of sin. That needed to come first or how could God really judge with equity? There needed a New Covenant of Grace that deals a death blow to sin and its ruler opening the door of reconciliatio...
