Re: Is Jesus a God of War or a God of Peace
To put both posts together: Christians are devided from unChristians. Blessed are those who try for peace though may endanger themselves, even get killed. UnChristians from family may not understand and may oppose. Hence the division, sword. Well, yes, Christians could be more visible in opposing w...

Re: Is Jesus a God of War or a God of Peace
Well, I wouldn't qualify this as bringing peace to humanity... Matt 10:34 "Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn "'a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against h...

Re: What is faith to you?
I mentioned this little analogy in some other thread, My own Children become lost. I tell them (through some writings), that I am their true father and even appear to them and show them the way the truth and the life. Some children: (i) Accept it on faith as being true and continue on through life c...

Re: Any questions about JWs I will answer it
OK, i just had another door knock by my friendly neighborhood JW's (they, as usual, ignored the "Do Not Knock" sign at my front door). As usual we argued for about an hour and got nowhere. I need to know a detailed explanation of the 144000 saved. (as it is mentioned twice in revelations)...

Re: Question
It's worth considering this parable (and a possible interpretation - link below)... Prodigal Son There was once a man who had two sons; and the younger said to his father, 'Father, give me my share of the property.' So he divided his estate between them. A few days later the younger son turned the w...

Re: Eternal Security...
I could easily say that the 5 Virgins who did not have enough oil in their lamps were never saved to begin with i.e., they had insufficient faith or a dead faith.
But I won't say it !

Re: Eternal Security...
I remember an old guy from a weird denominational church always come up to me and say (with great excitement in his voice)... "You're already there......You're already there........You're already there !!!" What was he on about ??? He was saying that being 'born again' in spirit means you ...

Re: Eternal Security...
I recall some confusion with the correct definition of "works" i.e., works = doing stuff or is it works = doctrine ? Check your context folks ! An example: Those who were following Jesus asked Him “What must we do, to be doing the works of God?” Jesus answered them, “This is the work of Go...

Re: Eternal Security...
I reckon this is relevant and rather concise..... "He that BELIEVETH on the Son hath everlasting life:. . ." John 3:36 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever BELIEVETH in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16 We are ...

Re: Eternal Security...
Hey jpbg, (I almost forgot what everyone was arguing about). Part of what you wrote looks like it supports OSAS. "Eph 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. " On a side note: I was thinking of Judas Iscariot of late. He would have been...

Re: Eternal Security...
Ok. I reckon there is still an issue with some of the (a's) or (b's) below. This is my summary of views / opposing views. (ia) the 'act' of being saved occurs just after death (ib) the 'act' of being saved occurs while a person is still alive (ii) the assurance (or guarantee) of salvation occurs at ...
