Re: Is eternal security part of the gospel?
Must one understand eternal security in order to be saved? I've heard some say that it IS part of the gospel and a necessary requirement for salvation. I've heard others say no, it's a growth, sanctification issue...a doctrinal issue that one learns after salvation. I've heard good arguments from b...

X-Pastor says he left the church because he can no longer teach a lie to black people!
This guy sounds angry, frustrated, and confused. The first thing that came to my mind was 1 John 2:19 which says "They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they...

Re: Quick answers about Bible
Paul, no, believing is not a work. The obey in Hebrew 5:9 appears, IMO, to mean keep the commandments (i.e., the law) which goes against what the Bible says. That is why I posted the question about this verse. Hebrews 4:6 "Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to ...

Re: Quick answers about Bible
I am having a hard time reconciling Hebrews 5:9 with justification by faith alone that Paul preached. Does Heb 5:9 teach salvation by works or am I missing something?

Re: Quick answers about Bible
That would be mine. Are we to believe ON Jesus Christ or IN Jesus Christ? Does it mean the same thing?

Re: Quick answers about Bible
I have another question. Are we to believe IN Jesus Christ for salvation or ON Jesus Christ? Do they mean the same thing? Thanks.

Re: Quick answers about Bible
Same here. I did some more digging and that seems to be the common answer I am finding. If I am wrong, please someone correct me.

Re: Quick answers about Bible
Question about Matt 7:24-27, the parable of the wise and foolish builder. One builds on sand while the other builds on rock. When the wind and waves come, the house built on the rock withstands destruction, but the house on the sand is destroyed. Is the withstanding of the storm referring to eschato...

Re: Andrew Farley: It's not our apologies that make us forgiven . . .
I liked the part about being forgiven up to salvation and then thinking we have to stay forgiven. I used to think this even as a new(er) christian. Thanks for sharing.

Re: If you only had one bible verse...
My signature. Because it is too good. Psalm 23 is beautiful. John 3:16. That's the gospel in a nutshell. Probably the same verse I would use. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" I teach my children this verse and the underlying principle more so than any other ve...

Re: The Gospel Of Jesus Christ
Just watched the first video, and it's so true many Christians do not fully understand the Gospel. Well at least, I went most of my life hearing gospel this and gospel that, but wasn't until reading Martin Lloyd-Jones after leaving home that I truly understood it. You know, that to be saved you nee...
