Re: What does the Ceres pyramid say about intelligent design
To not see that God has to exist is just foolishness. A burying your head in the sand. That sounds pretty judgemental for a christian, but whatever...no, it is not "foolishness", namely since we...let's say..."discovered" spontaneous creation. If we ought to only believe that wh...

Re: What does the Ceres pyramid say about intelligent design
May I ask why you chose to dumb yourself down. I'm sorry, I'm not a native English speaker, so I'm not sure I understood that. Could you rephrase, please? Unless you're asking why I ~ sort of ~ became dumber. If that's the case, please remember: becoming a non-christian doesn't equal becoming dumbe...

What does the Ceres pyramid say about intelligent design?
As most of us know (I guess...), a pyramid has been discovered in the surface of Ceres. This is weird enough as it is. Now, here's the deal: from the christian perspective, God designed our solar system. So...could it be that He designed it to the point of "making" a pyramid in Ceres? Soun...

Re: If God designed our brain, why is it so flawed?
And as for the OP's analysis that an intelligent God would not have allowed what we observe on earth - well, did he use his flawed, sinful and mortal-limited brain to deduce such? Of course he did; his brain is the only "tool" with which he can analyse, like...anything that exists! If you...

Re: If God designed our brain, why is it so flawed?
I know several cars that have rusted parts. That doesn't mean they were designed to rust. True. But the fact that our brain can "rust" sort of avoids the whole your-character-is-being-tested thing. I mean, God is omnipotent, so He can create this world's rules in any way. Why wouldn't He ...

If God designed our brain, why is it so flawed?
I know that the human brain is a wonderful, really complex "machine", to the point that is seems to have been designed. However, it also seems not to have been designed, as it is flawed to a point that it is almost laughable! As in...God is supposed to have created us in this flawed world ...

Re: Lord...why so serious?
Care to back that up by showing the evidence? Which part? The evidence against the Bible or the for-every-evidence-for-something-there-is-evidence against it thing? Just in case you meant the latter...well, the list is quite endless, but let's try to scratch the surface, with no particular order: -...

Re: Lord...why so serious?
Sure, for some, faith may be blind, BUT that is not the faith that God requires from us. I know; mr. Deem even said once something like "God expects us to base our faith on knowledge" or something. It still feels way unfair that God saves a limited person whose faith is based on nothing w...

Re: Lord...why so serious?
This is why faith is a requisite. Faith as a way to believe despite the lack of answers...hm, I guess that could work. Unless, of course, people can't even reach faith because of the lack of answers. That's sort of how I feel. You can call it "convenient" and reject religion on that basis...

Re: Lord...why so serious?
Nice line of thought. The problem is that not only do contradictions draw people away from God, but also the answer "divine mistery" is a pretty unsatisfying one. Now, I'm not saying every answer to questions on God should be 100% satisfying (although we might appreciate that...), but...if...

Re: Lord...why so serious?
That's actually a perfect example of what I'm trying to say. Your Lion King example is an example of anthropomorphism. When humans attribute human characteristics to something not human. Such as animals or God. I don't think you got the point. I was asking whether or not it's dangerous to "tal...

Re: Lord...why so serious?
Well, I hope so, since that's the only way eternal, absolute happiness is possible. But...doesn't that mean that God is always "feeling" the anger He has as a constant?God doesn't experience emotion that comes and goes, like we do

Re: Lord...why so serious?
Jesus is not literally a door. Well, maybe you're right. But isn't it kind of dangerous talking to humans in metaphors? I mean, metaphors are cool in general, but hey can be misinterpreted, so...dangerous? I mean, Timon failed to understand Rafiki's metaphor because Rafiki didn't realize Timon coul...

Re: Lord...why so serious?
Saying God was disappointed, if meant literally, would undermine aseity. First of all, if the Bible isn't to be taken literally, everything in the book can be interpreted in several ways, so we know nothing about God or His morality. Second...if God, as you said, doesn't have feelings, wouldn't tha...

Re: Lord...why so serious?
You're assuming God is not happy. Well, I don't think God is exactly happy; He seems to have a "wrath" every time we sin. At least, the Bible mentions God's "wrath", which is one of the most negative feelings one can have. Also, pretty incompatible with happiness. First off, hap...
