I've spent a little bit of time in the Middle East (in the nineties) and I've enjoyed my visits there. The Arabs and Egyptians have a very rich culture and in general are friendly people. However, Muslims in that culture are not free to accept Salvation thru Christ without dire consequences. In this...

Well I was just trying to understand if the rainbow has any relevance to anything. It's a physical sign given by God intended to reassure mankind that he will not destroy the world by this means again. You could speculate that the rainbow is particularly appropriate because it relates specificially...

John 10:30 "I and [my] Father are one" So Jesus doesn't say He is God? If he is "one" with the Father, may I ask one what? Jesus was not made or created. He was begotten, unlike you or me or anthing else. Do you purport to know better than the apostles? They said He was God. Phil...

Thanks for the reference Canuckster. There's a lot of good science there. as I had mentioned, I am open to both sides on this. And here's why! 1Corinthians1:21 "For since in the wisdom of God , the world through it's wisdom did not come to know God, God was well-pleased through the foolishness ...

I can accept what you are saying and respect it. The question, however, is not what God is capable of doing. The question is what is consistent with his nature. I do not believe God purposely designed nature to deceive us. In fact, while natural revelation is not sufficient to salvation, it is part...

When Jesus fed the four thousand, there appeared loaves of bread and fishes that were not there for more than a minute, but I would imagine that they had every appearance of being normal loaves and fishes. If you were to analyze one of those fishes with modern testing methods, what do you think you...

Re: Seeking God

But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul. (Deuteronomy 4:29) I've been meaning to ask.... What was meant when he said 'find'? Will God reveal himself to you, or will it be through other means? or does it mean some...

I assume the "300 measure of complexity" is the number of base-pairs in the genome. I have heard the the lower limit to viability in an organism is probably around 200 base-pairs.

Re: methane?

Why is it assumed that methane gas indicates the presence of microbes? The atmospheres of the gas-giants in our solar system contain methane. It's not assumed. Analysis of gas composition leads one to beleive that this methane was biological in origin. Let me know if you want me to go into more det...

Let's say I wanted to argue on behalf of the "young earth" point of view. I really could not support my argument with any generally accepted scientific reasoning. It would not, however, be improper for me to say, though, that God is capable of a 6 day creation and that God is sovereign, an...

End times

Puritan Lad mentioned a couple verses that have intrigued me for some time. Romans 11:22-27 "For I do not want you, brethren, to be uninformed of this mystery - so that you will not be wise in your own estimation - that a partial hardening has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentil...

I am a member of an evangelical church (one of the Sovereign Grace Churches if there are any of you other members out there) in the suburbs of Philadelphia. I got here thru a l...
