Re: Why can't I believe in this?
Evolution is not a do or die issue for me. Evolution and creationism are not necessarily mutually exclusive. I happen to believe evolution is a viable and proven theory at many levels. The popular terminology among creationists is to identify it as "microevolution" and "macroevolutio...

Just a quick insert here. August is touching a lot of things better than I can so I'm holding off so as not to overwhelm you Caine with this discussion. It's not easy if you have multiple people coming at you. Oh thank you :D I do feel a little outnumbered here. I have read you post. Thank you for ...

Caine, this is a most excellent discussion. We are starting to reach into some fundamental philosophy here, which is good. While we go through this, I want to ask that you keep trying, as you seemingly have done up to now, both sides of the argument in mind. Keep trying to interpret, from the most ...

Limitations consistent with the non-contradictory nature of God do not necessarily equate with limits of ability. In those terms God is all powerful (omnipotent) The potential and power to do something, rejected by choice, does not refute the ability. An analogy would be if you were in a room with ...

Re: Why can't I believe in this?
Do you see, in your own wording above, that you seem to be implying that your own belief system or world view includes belief in elements that cannot be or have not been scientifically proven? Depends. Evolution happens so slowly that we cannot really observe it and prove with say a video recording...

Re: Does this prove God?
Caine, let's look at each premise. 1. God can do everything. To accept the major premise, we must define what it is what we mean by "everything". The Bible tells us that God cannot do everything without limits, He can do everything that is in His nature to do. God cannot lie, for example,...

Does this prove God?
God can do everything. Everything includes creating yourself. Therefore God must exist.

Re: Why can't I believe in this?
As for evolution, I was of the old school on evolution which teaches species evolving into an entire new species. Evolutions new school basically stresses species adapting into their environment and remaining the same species. Butterfly changing color due to environment, etc; What school of thought...

Re: Why can't I believe in this?
Welcome aboard Caine, Thank you champ. I thought this thread was locked by admin? If not, maybe we can debate. That would be strange since I posted in it :) Remember, we cannot force you to believe in anything, only discuss and reason. So, let's begin: What is it that makes you an Atheist? What was...

Re: Why can't I believe in this?
Welcome aboard, I used to be an Atheist many years ago. The reason why I was of that persuasion was due to several reasons. One was my perspective of religious hypocrisy. I viewed Christians as dimwitted unenlightened tyrants who believed in a cruel, unjust, and mean god who delighted in making wha...

Re: How old is the earth
How old is the earth? About 4.5 billion years. And how did you reach this conclusion? I didn't. Scientists did. So you have blind faith in scientists? I have faith in the methods they use to determine the age of Earth. I don't believe something because a single scientist tells me that it is correct...

Nice post, though both of those answers are pure science. I bet you knew the answers even before you asked the questions. A true cynic. Thats a little harsh. Instead of asking why the sky is blue (which can be proven by science) he should have asked why God designed the world to make the sky blue. ...
