Ultimate "blind" proof of Darwinian Evolution
Now here is supposedly one of the most convincing pieces of evidence for Darwinian Evolution, it doesn't get much better then this. Here is the more relevant part: Vestigial eyes, for example, are clear evidence that these cave salamanders must have had ancestors who were different from them—had eye...

Re: God of chance
David, An open system is generally what you want, not a closed system. An open system is more friendly to adaptability, survivability...A closed system can be confined enough limiting any external input internally. If you define a biological system as a closed system then any causal changes are caus...

Re: Evolution observed in bacteria?
Hi David, Thanks for the tips and I'm sorry you feel that its such a simple consideration. Common descent is only one piece of the puzzle, I'm really less interested in that than I am about the process and mechanism. When you make wild claims, you have to back those up. Even if I do accept common de...

Re: Evolution observed in bacteria?
David said: Genes responsible for our ears can be traced back to jellyfish. Our fish to human framework is so strongly supported scientists no longer try to marshall evidence for it. Hi David, personally I don't care much for similarities between species, but here is a indirect reply (that you don't...

Re: Should Christians mix with non-Christians?
Hi Canuckster and Gman, There was a song I heard, very powerful that illustrated the point that defining oneself as a "Christian", "Jew", "Muslim" etc.. only brings us further away from God. The problem therefore, is that individuals and groups tend to label or differen...

Re: God of chance
Thats the point David, if you think God and chance as defined as "lacking aim or method; purposeless; haphazard" then you have to explain how you think such a God is conceivable versus "A pseudorandom process is a process that appears random but is not. Pseudo random sequences typical...

Re: God of chance
So really, we need to clarify terms. So for things like, rolling a die or flipping a coin, would you use a term iike chance or random? It sounds like you wouldn't, I think its terribly hard to find an example of something that is truly random. The act of flipping a coin means the coin toss requires...

Re: God of chance
no assignable cause -> a risk or hazard -> unexpected, random, chance result -> all these point to anti-teleology whether inconceivable or not, can be thought of as truly random meet accidentally -> without plan or purpose -> force that cannot be foreseen or controlled -> leaves a question mark ope...

Re: God of chance
Zoegirl, I don't have a problem with believing that God works though "mysterious" ways or ways inconceivable to our feeble minds. If theistic evolutionists define chance as: no assignable cause a risk or hazard unexpected, random, chance result meet accidentally without plan or purpose ......

Re: Evolution explains something yet again!
But Dawkins never said there is no god(s). He said he believes the probability of one is very low. The teaching of evolution is not equivalent to atheism. If that were the case, the Vatican, Orthodox Church, and most moderate and liberal Protestants would be accused of atheism. The Pope has said th...

Re: Ben Stein - Expelled movie
That being said, I am completely open to the guiding force that has (so far) left no tracks. I'm unimpressed, however, with the techniques that the brain power behind the ID movement (DI) has used to further its cause. So much time, space, and effort is expended by these people criticizing evolutio...

Re: Evolution explains something yet again!
CSI is a term invented by, I think, Dembski. It is not a term in scientific usage within the scientific community. About the mousetrap, precursor arrangements of molecules that function elsewhere have been reused during evolution as assembly parts for completely different purposes. In the case of t...

Re: Evolution explains something yet again!
I think you misread what I said. What I am saying is that a lot of religions say that humanity is the pinnacle of Creation however how can this be so if we are continuing to evolve and/or be designed. Unless we are a stepping stone for "God's image" or unless the changes will be so insign...

Re: Evolution explains something yet again!
If evolution was in fact working, we wouldn't be seeing the extinction rate skyrocket. If there was a period in our earths history where species needed to adapt to they're environment (ie: demand for change) and pass offspring to increase survivability plus the population, it would be right now (take...
