Re: Death/Dying

OK, GMan, here is my answer, but I suspect we are going to reach an impasse from the start because of the large differences we have about how to interpret the Bible. Here goes, anyway: Wikipedia and I asked, “Where, in the Bible, is it written that, 'All men are guilty and condemnable for the nature...

Re: Death/Dying

Heh, heh....well, you caught me - but I didn't get it all from Wikipedia. I had three more sources, but most of it came from Wiki. I would like to take a stab at an answer, but I'll have to do it tomorrow. Thanx for responding.

Re: Death/Dying

Bart wrote: The basic message of "original sin" is that love no longer takes dominance in the lives of it's people... The word "sin" is actually an old archery term meaning to miss the mark (in love)...we don't love people as I should 100% of the time (which is the sin that lives...

Re: Death/Dying

Hi Bart - Yes, I see that now and apologize to Gobuffalo. I decided to respond to his post - then when I referred back to it, I only read the first line. Anyway, if I may comment - frequently those who think quite differently on issues simply don't bring them up. But since we're supposed to chat in ...

Re: Questions on Evolution

Excerpts from the scientific, evolution-utilizing Bible: In the beginning there was God who created hydrothermal vents and said, "Let there be life." And life formed and it was good. But life was lonely so God said, "let there be parasites." But the parasites smote much of the ot...

Re: Christians Please Answer

May I inject a more liberal interpretation, please. Thomas Jefferson did his own Bible. He took a pair of scissors to the gospels and letters and removed all the parts he didn't like - miracles, healings, anything that smacked of dogma, anything Paul wrote, Hell, etc., including only selected words ...

>>No matter how far out a theory is if it supports Darwin it gets front page coverage<< Wow...you'd think science supports Darwinism. >>What they did not tell you is that many things were left out of the ball. Re: The “Gay Gene” again

>>According to our Calvinist friends he [God] predestines some to damnation and them judges them for it<< I agree with the poster that this concept is not a good one, and like sparse references against homosexuality in the Bible, was written by a fallible person or persons during the Bronze age. Re: The “Gay Gene” again

Bart: "One would think as well since the human genome has been fully recorded that one could research on that basis instead of the behavior of rodents." Ummmm, let's see, Bart, how we would do that. I got it! We'd do a double blind controlled study. We'd take the half the volunteers and as...

Re: Death/Dying

>>The reason people die painfully is sin<< I think that is a little harsh. Matter of fact, I think the whole concept of sin is wrong. Illness, accidents, and death happen on this earth exactly the way one would expect them to happen if there were no interventional God. Furthermore, the idea that som...

Well, it is a chatroom, which by virtue of relative anonymity reduces the inhibitions. It can cause one to change their threshold for insulting and for being insulted. This place is mild.

Re: Archaeological find suggests human behavior 160,000 yrs ago?

Excerpts from article from Science Daily about this find from Herto, Ethiopia: Because the Herto fossils represent a transition between more primitive hominids from Africa and modern humans, they provide strong support for the hypothesis that modern humans evolved in Africa and subsequently spread i...
