Re: ?
From the research I've done on Scientology it is more or less a money making scheme. Began by L. Ron Hubbard for what some speculate to be an attempt at winning a wager with other Sci-fi writers of his time, Scientology requires believers to pay great sums of money in order to gain higher rank in th...

Ok so I seemed to have lost my train of thought on this matter somewhere between Philosophy of Science and the History of the Enlightenment but I'll respond to what I can... So moral ideas are just conventions? They are no more than mores , or 'habits'? Well it seems that way considering their tende...

I didn't think so about atheists, but my point remains: there is no inherent meaning to life, the only 'meaning' is the one you give it. And because it is completely subjective, morality too is subjective. The basis does not lie in absolute truth, but in yourself. Atheists and theists alike would a...

Re: The Fall and Free Will
would it have been logically impossible to create a man who would not have fallen? No. This seems to be a philosophical problem with belief in an all-powerful God. If God created man with weakness and then creates the temptation it is by God's own doing that man falls. If God creates man with weakn...

Nietzsche believed the Übermenschen would create their own rules, their own morality. Hitler, Stalin and Mao duly followed his exhortation. I'm not comparing you to any of those murderers, but pointing out what can (and will) happen if morality is made subjective. It's the rule of the fittest, the ...

Not quite; people can also mean 'You're so insecure you need a God idea, whereas I don't.' Ok that's legitimate but then the question should probably be rephrased. Taking responsibility for your own actions is not a bad thing at all, and actually very Christian. But in what way are you 'in charge'?...

If I understand correctly what you are asking, then I'd question the validity of the question posed for it assumes time is as eternal as God (which I do not accept). This conflicts with the position I've adopted, which I might add is the same position as William L. Craig. This is that time came in ...

I've noticed that amongst non-believers who have not read a Bible with an open mind and heart that their opinions are swayed by the current anti-christian approach in the secular world. People will often arrogantly claim that they are not in need of God, and will offer their self as their own leade...

Re: Responses to B.W.
All I can say in answer to this second part of your statement is with several statements and end with three related questions: we exist, we are here: are we not? What are we to do with this gift of life thrust upon us? What is our purpose for being? In answer to all questions now that I have time: ...

Responses to B.W.
I'll first give a small warning to readers of this post: 1. I have not read this thread to its entirety. 2. I am attempting to learn so forgive me for rehashing anything or being ignorant on a particular viewpoint. 3. I know very little on any particular topic. With that said, I was reading B.W.'s s...
