God and history?
So basically...I'm here looking for some people who can prepare me for what is to come in my Western Civ class. It sounds like the professor is going to be ripping the historical accuracy of the Bible to shreds over the next few months. Anyone here who can help me out? I apologize that I don't have ...

The Purpose Driven Life was ok. I wouldn't for one second think to replace it with anything Spurgeon or Luther have penned...but it was ok. Sure...I had some problems with the book (just like everyone else)...but it did make some good points. Warren's teachings on the church were excellent. I went t...

There's no forum for politics...so I'm guessing this is the right spot?
What do you you think of socialism? Would it work in America? Why/why not? Is it a morally sound governmental structure?
Explain.

Thanks alot. I appreciate you taking the time. Yeah...I've been doing quite a bit of thinking on the subject. I'd say I've changed my mind in several areas concerning this issue. Actually...I wouldn't say I've changed my mind so much...but I've been able to fill in many of the gaps in my logic. I pl...

I think that homosexuality is very harmful. In as much as I think homosexuality is an abomination in God's eyes, I do not think it is the Christians responsibility to stop it on a political level. Why? What do you suppose we should do then? I don't understand your reasoning.. You would vote against...

If it were possible to separate these quarks...I would say that we have no grounds to fight gay-marriage on-spiritual, political, or otherwise. Unfortunately, the issues of gays' right to marry and gays' right to adopt cannot be separated, therefore I am forced to cast a vote against both. Aside fr...

I suppose the way I see it is that I would rather go underground with my Bible than find myself in a political war that I'm not meant to be in. I think that John the Baptist got political in a very different sense of the word though. He wasn't calling for laws against sin...he was calling for a chan...

I think that John the Baptist got political in a very different sense of the word though. He wasn't calling for laws against sin...he was calling for a change in the hearts of the people...not in the state. Also...the church and the state were not exactly separate like they are now, correct? Calling...

Mr. Hyde, Your argument is irrelevant. The State does not define marriage. The Word of God does. Therefore, even if a state allows gay marriage, it is no less an abominable crime in God's court. The state allows for abortion. But in God's eyes, both the woman and her hired killer are murderers. The...

I would stress that a 'gay marriage' is something like a 'square circle'. The adjective is meaningless unless you redefine the substantive -- and then the substantive becomes meaningless! In 1776 marriage was considered a sacred bond between one man and his property (aka...his wife). In the 1850's ...

Homosexuality, politcs, and Christians-Oh my!
Specifically concerning the issue of gay marriage...what is the Christian's political responsibility? This is not an issue of whether homosexuality is sinful despite overwhelming biblical indication that it is...let's not even get into that. I only want to discuss the politics of it. Do we have a ri...
