Sorry for the delayed reply. I thought this thread had been deleted. But as it turns out, it had been transferred from the "answers for non-christians" to the "creation and design" board. Jac, I understand, and agree (to an extent) with your criticism of my line of argument. I sh...

"And how would you find those maximum and minimum rates for genetic mutations? By historical evidence? But that is too unreliable...." Exactly. Which is why only scientific data recorded is used(last 200 years I believe, most of which is quite recent, apart from a few plant experiments do...

"But Mastermind if it is "random", by defintion it does NOT have a predictable pattern." Actually, that would depend on the degree of randomness. There are still maximum-minimum rates, which is what I was referring to when I said mechanism. For example, you can set a computer to...

Thanks Whoa, that made for some good reading. And watching. Jac, I take it that you are quite interested in the "Cambrian Explosion". What's interesting to me is that the Cambrian explosion fits in perfectly with the Genesis account of creation Oh, I see. Subject to literary interpretation...

James, you don't understand. I'm not saying Evolution is impossible. I'm saying it is extremely UNLIKELY without a creator. But what are you basing this on? Equally unlikely probabilities? As for calculating odds, we can use statistics. Check today's rate of mutation and use those numbers to calcul...

And I disagree about the evidence being used to explain evolution as being the same evidence that says it is improbable. Probability is calculated based on number of mutations required, the chance of the mutations occuring, and known disasters that possibly reset the mutations counter. This has not...

The odds for evolution occuring on its own are extremely ridiculous. With a creator, the odds become 100%. Sure, it is definitely easier to explain things when there is an all-powerful creator. "God did it" is the "why", not the how. I'm not sure what you mean by this. I agree t...

Why do evolution and ID clash? I think that if evolution is accepted globally then intelligent design is not disproved, but it is devalued significantly - it shows that certain aspects of nature can be explained without the need for a supernatural creator. In my opinion, while proving evolution doe...

I am indeed saying that a large portion of the scientific community is biased against religion, with many quotes available to bear that out. In general, the scientific community may be biased in favour of evolution, but we must also remember that the Christian community is also biased towards human...

if the probabilities for certain parameters have been calculated already by persons within the scientific community, then I do not see why an article calculating the probabilities needs to be published in a journal. If the probabilities are used in further calculations to present a new conclusion (...

Firstly, you want to hold any scientific theory other than evolution to a standard that cannot possibly be reached, because the scientific community that underwrites evolution has positioned evolution such that it cannot be tested or falsified. All I want to see are peer-reviewed papers concluding ...

http://www.designinference.com/documents/2003.09.ID_FAQ.pdf Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think that the references on this page state the conclusion I was referring to in my initial post. The closest to this would be Dembski's work, but this is more to do with quantifying design - so Dembs...

I have heard of that explanation as well, however when some people use that as proof of a world wide oceans(shells in mountains), atheists tend to blame it on tectonic movement. It seems a bit unfair not to judge both by the same standards. Mastermind, when you say 'world-wide oceans' are you refer...

I have heard evolutionists estimate the age of the dinosaurs based on the evolutionary model, and "prove" the evolutionary model based on the age of the dinosaurs. If this circular reasoning is true then it would cast significant doubt on the "evolutionist's" conclusions. Fortun...

The Question of Design

http://www.godandscience.org/apologetics/designss.html With regard to the above article and others like it which promote the impossibility of life by chance. Does anyone know if any of them have been submitted to the scrutiny of the scientific community in the form of a paper in a reputable journal?...
