Hey Seeker Have you read any books on the subject? There were a couple that I really enjoyed, and recommend to people who ask (and apparently people who don't since I'm going to recommend them to you as well.) <a href=http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0060652926/qid=1097790963/sr=...

I think Kurieuo also made a great point in that we can gain a certain degree of understanding about God simply from looking at His creation. I delved deeper into science well before I delved deeper into God and even then I was fascinated by the harmony playing out in every cubic millimeter of the un...

I think there's a fundamental fallacy in your argument: If this was the attitude taken by science nothing would have ever been accomplished. Science was not yet advanced enough to explain and quantify the effects of gravity until Newton did it. It was not advanced enough to explain that electricity ...

Well... It was my intention to share a joke, not to make a serious statement about God's character. Seeing how much wiser women are, I'd think you'd have been able to gather that.

Evolution aside...

Okay, forget about macro-evolution. Let's say for the moment that it is a false hypothesis and just look at the evidence. We see physical evidence for the following species through carbon dating and archeological digs: Ardipithicus ramidus 5 to 4 million years ago Australopithecus anamensis 4.2 to 3...

ok, but missing the point...

No pun intended, but you're taking me a little too literally here. I'm not saying that the translation from ancient manuscripts to english are to be literally interpreted word for word. What I'm saying is that, assuming a reliable and accurate translation, the story contained therein is meant to be ...

Hmm, I didn't realize there was more than one way to interpret literal. Oh wait, maybe if an announcer on Monday night football uses it, "He literally knocked him 20 feet in the air." But usually my built-in jibberish translator automatically hears "figuratively" in that scenario...

Case in point

hahahaha, I knew you wouldn't be able to distinguish a joke from a non-joke. Now you're the one bearing false witness, I never said that you said that. Oh, I don't even know where to begin... so I won't. If you were nearby I'd just smile and pat you on the head, maybe give you a lolli and something ...

How can I believe in Genesis and not feel naive?

As someone who has recently come to Christianity, I have found many things I really like about the Bible. The wisdom it contains has been truly comforting and guiding and generally helpful in my life. One thing I have been having a hard time swallowing is the creation story in Genesis as an accurate...

No, this is a joke...

A frequenter of this discussion board dies and goes to heaven. He's got a good heart and soul, and God welcomes him to the kingdom. God decides to show him around. As they're walking they come to a door and the guy hears laughter and partying coming from inside. The man turns to God and asks, "...

This is bothering me...

Can someone please explain this to me. God created time and space. This implies that there has to be something besides time and space, from which time and space were created. We can draw a point on paper, a single dimension, and we can continuously move that point to create a 2 dimensional curve. We...

This had to be written by a woman...

One day, there was a catastrophic event that caused all living creatures on Earth to die. To sort things out, everyone went to heaven. God came and said, "I want the men to form two lines. One line for the men who ruled their women on Earth and the other line for the men who were ruled by their...

Let's accept entirely, for a moment, the Christian account of the creation of the world. God created everything, from the numberless stars in the heavens down, as a closed, brilliant system. I still have a question: Why? Is he like some celestial model railway fanatic? Okay, I just have to acknowle...

Let me start by asking, with this subject, what hypothesis does have any empirical evidence to support it? In matters of philosophy, as I believe this one is, nobody has the benefit of repeatable experiments which can prove or disprove their beliefs. This is unfortunate, because I for one, would be ...

Just making the introduction

Hey Everyone, Wow, what a great site. This is exactly what I've been looking for. I'm such a level-headed individual and the apologetics part of this site in particular is just right up my alley. I'm in Columbus, OH, USA and have only recently converted to Christianity thanks to some unmistakable wo...
