I would like to recant my statements about deception insofar as they are applied to scientific research. My approach to the topic has been haphazard as I have been more focused on other threads and I confess to some sloppiness in my rationale. I would like to formulate my point of view a little more...

Looking at the beauty and intricacies of God's creation is a natural and noble thing to do. It is wise to study the natural laws and understand what God has wrought. Look deeply into cells and understand how the complex mechanisms interact and explore the stars and understand how elements are forged...

Can you give one example in the Old Testament where qedem or olam was used in the manner you propose? There clearly are instances where yom is used to mean more than a 24 hour day so this is not introducing a new usage or concept. If you cannot demonstrate similar instances for these words here wou...

On the basis of pure science, for example I'm not convinced that Intelligent Design is a viable theory. That's not because I don't believe in God and His creation obviously, because I passionately do. It's because I don't believe attempting to limit our knowledge to science in this manner is needed...

I think you're imagining that having some form of understanding of how something took place or happened would in and of itself negate God's Power, Majesty or Glory. Think about that. I believe if I understood how God performed the virgin birth, healing the blind man, walked on water, etc, etc. Yes ...

Ok, so we could be deceived about ALL of the methods (by whom, Satan? or ourselves?) , or they could be accurate testimonies to God's creation. ALL of them If they were accurate testimonies of Gods creation then they should be attested in the scriptures. (not the indivdual methods, obviously, but t...

Even if we think that some time in the future we could manipulate the forces in water by understanding the forces and knowing how the strengthen the forces does not diminish the fact that Christ could do this simply by an act of His will!! He is not some superhero but the Lord! If that is how He wa...

Bear, In an earlier post you stated the Epic of Gilgamesh was not about the flood. Gilgamesh was a semi-mythical (real King, tales about him considered mythical - i.e. he was 2/3 god, 1/3 human) king of Uruk (the Biblical Erech) who decides to take a journey to visit the great Utanapishtim (Noah) wh...

PLain and simple...I find it terribly judgmental to label some Christians as letting doubt in their minds and needing to repent simply because some want to examine HOW God created the universe. You do not know their/our hearts and therefore do not know whether we doubt GOd. One should not automatic...

What is your answer for all of the other pieces of evidence for the age of the earth (unless you are just saying apparent age)? We are deceived. Now, what is the independent proof that the observations cited are correct. Is anyone able to confirm the observations without relying on science alone? C...

It has been pointed out in several places that these issues are non-cardinal. I guess that means one is not going to lose his salvation over whether one thinks the earth is old or young or appears old. That may be true, but the issue is important for many reasons which I would like to begin to addre...

Atheist scientists do not acknowlege God, science is neutral. Regarding science as neutral, we know there is no neutrality with God. My contention and many (no one in particular) on this board agree, that science in imperfect, and sees darkly. God is truth and not partial truth, God is light and no...

Since the thread deals with deception I thought it useful to know, what does the dictionary say? 1. deceptive -- 'likely to make you believe something that is not true.' 2. deception -- 'the act of deliberately making somebody believe something that is not true' 3. deceive -- 'to make someone believ...

Regarding 'yom', once again I would like to address an earlier challenge by canuckster to expalin what other words, Moses could have used to express a long period of time and expand the evidence that it did not mean a period of time. http://biblicalstudies.qldwide.net.au/cs-how_long_were_the_days_of...
