Re: More Trinity stuff
Thank you for your response, I too “am always up for refining and even changing my theology when Scripture tells me I must. I've done it in the past.” It's just strange that all the bibles based on the Greek text before the King James 1611 read “it.” Like me they probably did not have your word st...

Re: More Trinity stuff
Your grammatical argument is, very simply, just factually wrong. "Logos" is masculine. The next two pronouns "houtos" and "autos" are also masculine. They are not neuter. Here is a Greek Bible (NA27) complete with parsing for your convenience. Here are the simple facts...

Re: More Trinity stuff
Jac3510, Thanks for the link. I will read it today. What is your view on John 1:1? In the New Testament, “the Word” ( Logos ) happens to be of the masculine gender. Therefore, it's pronoun -"he" in our English translations - is a matter of interpretation, not translation. Did John write c...

Re: More Trinity stuff
Zoegirl, This is a whole other topic, what does a baby know of the Trinity? Yet, many church formulas require that babies confess Jesus as their savior or die in their sins. Yes, according to many church doctrines babies will burn in hell, thus, my comment “hard questions indeed!” Why? Because ther...

Re: More Trinity stuff
The question as I see is framed so that belief is a necessary part of salvation - there are no "special cases" ALL must have a belief in the Trinity. If the question was framed a different way on the other hand, like does one's denial of Trinity mean one is not saved, then there would lik...

Re: More Trinity stuff
Hello, Jac3510 It's not that I want to believe in the Trinity. It's more the consequences that go along with not believing. I understand your point about going to Scripture. That's where I was headed next. My posts on agency, philosophy and Nicaea were just background information. However, agency is...

Re: More Trinity stuff
Sorry Jac3510 for taking over your topic. This has been a difficult study for me, one that has been ongoing for the past 8 months. I have put together a lot of information as you can see. I will drop the discussion if you so wish. I'm not sure any one can help anyway. I've gone too far to go back. I...

A brief history of the Church after Nicaea Here is a small section of writings… You must realize that in the early days Greek philosophy was the major thought pattern of the civilized world. Anyone who was anyone was educated in Greek philosophy. Another reason why these philosophies were so quick ...

Re: More Trinity stuff
Philosophy I would like to take a look at how Greek philosophy has entered into our Biblical worldview. It is well known that many of our early Church fathers were deeply embedded in the study of Hellenistic philosophy. Robert Hatch, author of Possession and Persuasion: The Rhetoric of Christian Fa...

Re: More Trinity stuff
If the trinity is so blinding obvious then as of now, why do 66% on this forum believe the trinity is not necessary for salvation compared to the 16% that do? Please, no disrespect intended! I am not here to change your views. I do however, want you to try and change mine. That goes for All of you o...

Re: Hebraic Perspective
David Bivin gives excellent examples of passages often misinterpreted due to lack of understanding of Hebrew idioms. I will summarize one. Luke 10:5 "Whatever house you enter, first say, 'Peace be to this house.' 6 "If a man of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; but if not, it wi...

Hi Jac3510, Zoegirl I'm not trying to prove anything. Such is the confusing nature of forums. I'm trying to learn. I just saw that you had a different view. I wanted to understand it so that it may better help me understand. As you can see it's a touchy topic. That does not mean it should be shut do...

Zoegirl quoted:And there is no contradiction in eternally begotten. Begotten is not the same as created. The word implies the same nature of the father, the same character. Really now? E-Sword Webster dictionary: Eternal ETER'NAL, 1. Without beginning or end of existence. BEGOT', BEGOT'TEN, pp. of ...

Zoegirl quoted: I can understand why the previous thread on this topic was locked. Yes, this is why we will never get at the truth. Do you really think I want to believe a lie? Do you really believe I want to play games with my salvation? You don't understand! I will tell you this. If you are right...

Re: Saved by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone.
WHEN GRACE IS A VERB Grace means favor, a gift, to be cheerful, well, happy, graciously, freely, deliverance from danger, and a dozen other benevolent qualities of peace, joy, goodness, and salvation. It is one of those truly wonderful words of blessing. But just how does it operate in "the re...
