Re: Why does God exist?
What does it mean to be above and beyond existence? What ontology is necessary to understand this? If it is undefinable, than what does it mean to even say this? What, are you surprised to find out that God is unknowable? This is exactly what we would expect about God. "It is necessary, theref...

Re: Why does God exist?
The phrase is adequately clear. Besides, I find it naive to think that human intellect can comprehend the mode of being native to its Creator. It is as absurd as thinking that a painting could grasp the inspiration of its artist.
A God Who is comprehensible simply is not God.

Re: What are the top arguments atheists should NOT use?
I also would say many atheist are not aware that there is a "camp" of christians who accept both evolution and God. Indeed, they are aware of us. They consider us irrational, and "double-thinkers," in that we supposedly compromise Christian teaching be accepting evolution. To th...

Re: Why does God exist?
The problem here is that you think of God as existing. In reality, He is the Originator of Existence. You could, in fact, say that the Lord does not exist, in the sense that He is above and beyond existence. But be careful about who you mention this around. Few people have reached the point of reali...

Re: Why does God exist?
"Why does God exist?" Hmmm...a question for the ages to ponder. To know the meaning of the answer would be to attain to the very essence of the Deity, something which is only accessible to Him. The answer to your question is the most simple and elusive substance there is, yet it contains t...

Re: Can you prove God exists only using logic?
Matthew 4:7 is taken from the dialog between Jesus and Satan while He was in the wilderness for 40 days. Satan here is tempting Jesus to get God to do miracles to make things easier for Jesus while in the dessert. This would be like me asking God "Please pay off my mortgage and all my bills so...

Re: Motivational posters for the Emerging Church
That's a pretty good set of political cartoonoids criticizing pretty much all liberal "Christianity." I agree with all of it, and it's certainly funny!

Re: Can you prove God exists only using logic?
But faith is not blind. It is based on trusting a source that has proven reliable about a substantial amount of things. Faith is seeing the direction the evidence is pointing, and making a concrete decision to go there. The existence of God cannot be reduced to mere theory. Even my own bias of the e...

Look at a respectable Astronomer; Gonzalez who was denied tenure at Iowa State University, after all the contributions he made in his field, and publishing books on ID and contributing to ID movement, the head figures of materialism made ends-meat out of Gonzalez, only to be denied tenure and promo...

Re: Can you prove God exists only using logic?
It's a very unstable platform to stand upon to declare, I don't see God unless you are falling on your knees daily to find who God is. A humble heart, I imagine will find God but one with pride whether filled with religiosity or atheism will not. If God exists, and I think that God does, I would ra...

Ah...a nice, cold glass of truth. Christopher's real motivation shines through brilliantly in a moment of frustration and anger. He's only in this for himself, to sell his book. He begins to whine when the debate ceases to support his self-interests.CH: This doesn't help to sell my book at all!

Re: Can you prove God exists only using logic?
Prove the existence of God. Okay, no problem. There is a simple proof that not everything is the product of irrational causes. The outline of it reads as follows: 1) Assume everything is the product of irrational causes. 2) Thus, humans are the product of irrational causes. 3) Everything humans mak...

Re: Sam Harris - "10 myths -- and 10 truths -- about atheis
4) Atheists think everything in the universe arose by chance. No one knows why the universe came into being. In fact, it is not entirely clear that we can coherently speak about the "beginning" or "creation" of the universe at all, as these ideas invoke the concept of time, and ...

Re: Sam Harris - "10 myths -- and 10 truths -- about atheis
1) Atheists believe that life is meaningless. In the sense that most people define meaning, yes, atheists do indeed believe life is meaningless. There is no objective purpose to our existence. We have to create our own. Basically, this amounts to a wimpy man imagining himself as the strong man in a...
