Re: sabbath keeping

Well, you certainly are tenacious, but I'd still have to call you mistaken. :D Actually, the "elements" (or "elemental things", depending on your translation) of Gal. 4:8 is not a reference to idol worship, but to the Law of Moses, since it is the Law that includes the special &q...

Re: sabbath keeping

Instead of an actual physical circumcision, it is now a circumcision of the MIND that is necessary. In Colossians 2:11-12 "In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, buried with Him in baptism, in which you were ...

Re: sabbath keeping

Yes, actually I do keep the dietary laws. I do not eat pork, shellfish, shrimp, crab, lobster, etc. Or anything else the Lord has said is "unclean". I do keep the festivals. The Passover, Feast of unleavened bread, day of atonement, etc. And while I do believe everyone has their choice of...

Re: sabbath keeping

And in Colossians, this verse is simply stating no one tell you that you are wrong in keeping the Sabbath, or judging you by it. NOWHERE does it state that we are not to keep the Sabbath. Col. 2:16-17 (NASB): Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a fes...

Re: sabbath keeping

Well, I'm glad to hear you believe that Christ is God, even though it seems to me that your choice of words implied otherwise. I apologize for seeming like I was "jumping" on you; I just meant that people who don't see Christ as God are not Christians, and I hope you would agree with that....

Re: sabbath keeping

Hey jenwat, with all due respect, I don't think you've been listening--I did NOT say that the Sabbath was kept on Sunday; I specifically said it was kept on Saturday. (Even in the NT, by any who chose to still keep it, though this was no longer required.) In answer to your question, once again, Acts...

Re: sabbath keeping

Christ is still Lord of the Sabbath; He is Lord of all. But this doesn't in any way imply the Sabbath commandment is still in effect. Rather, it means He has precedence and authority over the Sabbath commandment that the Pharisees claimed His disciples were breaking (Matt. 12:1-8). In His response H...

Re: sabbath keeping

Well, I would say yes, the sabbath was made for everyone in that it is intended as a symbol of the rest God has made available to everyone who will enter it by faith. (See Heb. 4:9 - "There remains a sabbath rest for the people of God," referring to the rest we find in Christ's finished wo...

Re: sabbath keeping

Many Christians (including me) do not believe the command to keep the Sabbath applies to Christians. We do have the Lord's Day, but that is a different thing entirely than keeping the Sabbath. For my own brief explanation of this, see http://www.noble-minded.org/sabbath.html . (Or if you're really a...
