Re: Testing the Noah Story?
Why more tests? Why not? It would PROVE that the story is true, right? All the geologic evidence. Please list all of this evidence cuz it doesn't exist except in your mind All the historic and oral historic evidence of so many peoples. The bible says so. So much of mankind has accepted the truth of...

Re: The First Cell
can't argue with that, they are technically "designing" a cell

Re: Testing the Noah Story?
GMan: of course I know the unfeasibility of doing such a thing but YEC's seem to argue that there were only a few thousand "kinds" on the Ark. They could start with a smaller estimate. They probably doubt the Ark would float and are worried that the animals would all perish... so they woul...

Re: The First Cell
They are not doing this to disprove God, they are trying to find out if a cell could form by natural means.
I for one am curious to see how far this group of researchers can get. Science is slowly but surely piecing things together.

Testing the Noah Story?
I see YEC's asserting that "this and that" happened or had to happen in order for the flood story (as told literally) to happen. This is often stated despite evidence to the contrary and no supporting evidence besides the Bible. Which gets to my question: Why isn't AiG or the like, with th...

Re: abiogenesis
No one as of yet has been able to come up with a "recipe" for creating living cells out of non-living matter but that's not to say that they haven't been trying. Several groups are currently working on this so I would not rule out a naturalistic explanation by any means. However as a theis...

Re: YEC vs Evolution
Why can't they put 2 and 2 together!? stubborn! there is plenty of evidence of localized catastophies. See GMan's local flood thread. The evidence for "megafloods" is limited to those areas. There is no evidence of mega floods in other regions which YEC's would predict if there was indeed...

Re: YEC vs Evolution
“There is plenty of scientific evidence to support the YEC view of the Bible. Evidence in favor of a young Earth and catastrophic flood include: here we go... not like I haven't seen these before 1) Marine fossils, e.g. clams, trilobites & jellyfish, are found all over Earth (even mountaintops)...

Re: Evolution observed in bacteria?
David Blacklock: good post. i think the "blurry" at best definition of species is strong evidence for evolution. The fact that the way we see things now is a "snapshot" in an ongoing evolutionary process is strong evidence of the changes ongoing with those species. Given a creati...

Re: Evolution observed in bacteria?
I can't prove or disprove OEC, so I'm not looking to debate TE vs. OEC because they both share a lot of the same beliefs. If God is part of the evolutionary process, we will never know. What's your stance on the evolution involved in OEC vs. the kind of hyperevolution used by YEC? What about the spe...

Re: YEC vs Evolution
Obviously, I am not going to cover all these assumptions. It is generally accepted amongst all scientist that the speed of light has been constant. However, the assumption that time flows at the same rate under all conditions is false. if YEC's disagree with the speed of light being constant, I'd l...

Re: Location of Noah's Local Flood
I just don't get how YEC's say "how can it be local when the Bible says the entire world", when they forget the fact that the Bible was written by a culture that was firmly rooted in the Middle East/Mediterranean region. When they wrote down the word "world, globe, earth, etc.", ...

Re: Evolution observed in bacteria?
Himan Mechanism here is the complexity of nature. I don't need to know how it works in order to know it works. A person need not know how babies grow in the womb but they know they do. Its complicated. The bible and earth evidence shows speciation was a quick event after the flood. I don't see a pr...
