Re: Pope Warns of Seductive Science
Katabole , Here is part of the page you referenced on Mistaken Point. "This close-up of a bedding surface at Mistaken Point shows spindle-like fossils preserved beneath a thick bed of volcanic ash. This ash formed from a volcanic eruption that covered the living community and preserved the orga...

Re: Why Did The Creator Choose the Jews?
To understand the evil in the world you need to understand spiritual warfare. It only makes sense when viewed thru a spiritual battleground. I heard something last night that made a lot of sense. I often wondered why Satan is destined to burn in the lake of fire. With no chance of redemption. Satan ...

Re: Pope Warns of Seductive Science
Himantolophus , The problem with some atheist is they are not godless they are antigod. They have faith, it is just misguided. The world has taken them over and the creation is rebelling against the Creator. A common tactic of evil. These people have no idea that their strings are being pulled. They...

Re: Why Did The Creator Choose the Jews?
Many times God said to write what He said in a book. Since we only know His name from books it makes sense to me that His name would be whole. The practice of extending the law by jewish tradition was not acceptable. I place this writing of G-d in this fashion as tradition. I still respect it and se...

Re: Pope Warns of Seductive Science
I understand your feelings about man's soul and spirit. Just show me a college level Biology text thats says that the control over the subsystems of man is controlled by the soul or the spirit of man. Just show me a text that says that science does not know how decisions are made and those things ar...

Re: Why Did The Creator Choose the Jews?
Thanks johnt for the info. I have often wondered about this but never bothered to look it up. By choosing Abraham God set the dominos in place for the history we now have. Each intervention of God in scripture has multiple reasons, but one I am sure of is to reset His will over man's history. The ex...

Re: Pope Warns of Seductive Science
I love Christ, I use science. Science is a tool of man and as such it should not be placed above God's creation in any form. There are way too many people who compromise God for the things of man. Draw the line in the sand and let nothing of man cross over to you. Gen 1:26 And God said, Let us make ...

Re: Pope Warns of Seductive Science
I do not believe science knows enough to describe mechanisticaly the behavior of anybody. To say it does implies that it can predict behavior. To predict behavior implies 100% control by a mechanistic system. This implies no free will. This is the argument of science and it is false.

Re: Pope Warns of Seductive Science
It is about time the Pope stood up and said something. I am not into his church but as a man of God (the Pope)I would support him saying what he did. Religion is not stepping on the toes of science, it is the other way around. A theory should not be taught as fact and when it is then science is tell...

Re: 2000 years of 'nothing' - Jesus and Paul imply 1st Century.
Katabole , Hi there. I just noticed an error in a prior post. I do not want to change your beliefs. I left out the word not. I have studied some of the major religions, just so I know what kind of beliefs are out there so I can witness for Christ in their terms. So much easier if you start on their ...

Re: Is ID non-scientific because it has relgious implications?
Things have slowed down. I know I took a break to read some Ted Decker books. Good reading. I also started to read some more about genetics. It takes a while to get past the new verbage. Has anyone placed all of the components of DNA into a solution to see if DNA self forms? I thought there was a th...

Re: 2000 years of 'nothing' - Jesus and Paul imply 1st Century.
Katabole, I came to Christ three years ago. I had always believed in God but the sciences were my guide for 52 years. I am a reasonably intelligent guy who stood on his pride most of his life. I take the Scriptures very seriously. So who was Christ talking too when He spoke in parables? And who did ...

Re: controversial scriptures
catherine , While we are discussing scripture in its many interpretations we are studying the Word of God. How can any of that be wrong. I always say that we will find out when we get there. Now there are some who try and destroy the Word of God but they are easily found out from their fruit. So in ...

Re: 2000 years of 'nothing' - Jesus and Paul imply 1st Century.
Katabole , I wrote a post in which I make the case that Jewish tradition and feast need to be understood to help interpret scripture. apologetical forums/the Bible and scriptures/Time of the Gentiles The other thing I take and relate to scripture is His creation. There is scriptural support for all ...

Re: 2000 years of 'nothing' - Jesus and Paul imply 1st Century.
Katabole, I am pre-trib on the rapture. Why do you bring up an 1830 idea when you say that your beliefs are strictly from scripture? The rapture interpretation goes back to the early Church fathers. It only fell out of favor when the Church pushed for power over the faithful. The reference to the pe...
