Re: Is ID non-scientific because it has relgious implications?

ARWalace, The point I was trying to make with the sickle cell defect was my opinion on the use of the term natural selection/benefit associated with it. I know in some limited sense it does fit the definition of a benefit / natural selection example. But from my personal view the trade off between m...

Re: Is ID non-scientific because it has relgious implications?

zoegirl , I think this reveals a lack of trust in God. Could not God have created this variation in the gene in order to ENDURE , even in the midst of this parasite, we would have the flexibility to survive? Can this change in gene frequency not be a reflection of God's planning and design? Why does...

Re: Is ID non-scientific because it has relgious implications?

ARWalace, It is my understanding that natural selection requires a benefit to go along with a change to the species or else the change does not grow in the host population. So calling sickle cell an example of natural selection is by inference calling it a benefit. A defect is suppose to decrease in...

Re: Is ID non-scientific because it has relgious implications?

ARwalace, I thought the lifespan for someone with the desease was shorter. So my comment about the earths population of humans going to zero obviously does not apply. Let me ask you, when do you think that malaria came onto the earth and when do you think sickle cell came on the earth? Do you think ...

Re: Liberals smarter then conservatives?

Gman,

I agree that we should not use sarcastic remarks in making a point. I do find myself doing this all of the time however. It is a hard habit to break.

Re: Is ID non-scientific because it has relgious implications?

ARWalace, I am surprised you used the malaria parasite to support natural selection in the human population. You said: "I think that this, too, may be another another claim that needs qualification. On what basis do you think we are above natural selection? In what way is evolution not working ...

Re: Is ID non-scientific because it has relgious implications?

ARWalace, You said: "I agree that this is "wild stuff". But I am still a little unclear about what you mean by "interaction of species". Could you clarify or maybe give me an example?" I was refering to the point in our past when there was but one cell (assumed Darwinia...

Re: controversial scriptures

I have always looked at Mark 9:43-48 as a statement of who sins. It is not your hand, or your foot, and not your eyes. It is the spirit in each of us. So to me the verses are saying to cast out that part of your spirit that allows you to sin. Then replace that with the spirit of God which will never...

Re: Evolution: The Evidence and the Critisism

Gman, A six day creation is not in Roman's. What is there is a statement that we are responsible to recognize that God made the universe. Created in us is a need to seek the Creator, then seeing the creation we are to realize that God made it. We are charged with not worshipping the creation. We are...

Re: Evolution: The Evidence and the Critisism

Gman , Given the history of man and all we have claimed as truth at one time or another our track record is terrible. Rom 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Rom 1:19 Because that which may be kn...

Re: Liberals smarter then conservatives?

Ann Coulter and Richard Dawkins are necessary because they say what many think. I am sure that both of them know they are the extreme mouthpiece for their side and act out the part. Who knows over a beer they both may be fun to talk to. They give everyone a chance to talk about tough issues without ...

Re: Is ID non-scientific because it has relgious implications?

ARWallace , When I said between one species and another I was refering to a wider gap than between two frogs or two birds. Just raise it up a level and I would be happy with that. When it comes to sharing DNA with other species we will be looking at some pretty wild stuff. This of course did not hap...

Re: Is ID non-scientific because it has relgious implications?

ARWallace, Thank you for your thoughful response. I am sorry that I assumed some things from your post. Evidently I put two and two together and came up with seven. I will try and be more careful in the future. I think we are getting somewhere in this dicussion. I would suggest that we keep the disc...

Re: Is ID non-scientific because it has relgious implications?

zoegirl, My comments on Lamarkian evolution were given in jest. At this point it would silly to hold on to ideas like that with all of the data out there. Now I look at the data and come to different conclusions than main stream science. My model would start with JAD and then have it unfold in six d...

Re: Is ID non-scientific because it has relgious implications?

Himantolophus , one fraud for every hundred facts. There is error in science, there is error in every field. Using that logic, dare I say there was error involved in the writing of the Bible?? God might be above error, but the people writing it all down were certainly prone to it. Like any "wor...
