Re: the need for a bible

Kurieuo you bring up valid points, most of which agree with what I'm saying (tho I'm not sure you meant to?) about Christian sects: which IS right? you said perhaps the ideals surrounding the core value of Christianity is what's right, however I beg to differ that semantics do not alter salvation. t...

Re: the need for a bible

here's another thing: all my life in church i have been warned of having a 'salt and pepper shaker" relationship with the bible. i think there was a mrs. dash commercial with the slogan "it's in there." i was told it's bad to be this way about the bible, to 1. have that 'oh it's in th...

Re: the need for a bible

Bottom line only ONE religion is correct, they all cannot be correct. As a Christian I will be accepting of other people no matter their religion, BUT I ONLY FEEL MINE IS CORRECT AS A CHRISTIAN. man. that's a bold statement i'm disinclined to make. i know my own heart and my walk with Him but i don...

Re: Another challenge to Darwinists

I believe the gap theory proposes some problems as outlined in this article below... i dont understand that article. it attempts to scientifically disprove this theory but doesnt offer any explaination of how else there can be an old earth. explaination? as for a pre-adamite flood: i've heard it wa...

Re: the need for a bible

I'm trolling again, but I think Sleep's point is that religion has the POTENTIAL to be bad, if the wrong person uses it. Religion in itself is not bad, just like a hammer in itself is not bad. It has the POTENTIAL to be used for good or bad, depending on the person who has it. Same with religion. I...

Re: Another challenge to Darwinists

It states that He created man on the 6th day. (Which I'm sure you already knew this). So how do we know He didn't mean 6 thousand years? For one, He created plants on the 3rd day, and then on the 4th day He created the sun and moon. If it had been an actual 1000 years between the two, then the plan...

Re: Another challenge to Darwinists

From the start of creation, how long? Days, years? i say it's unknowable, from the literal hebrew translation, because no starting point of creation is given. like i said the earth was recreated, not 'from nothing' in the bible. so pre-adamite earth isnt covered in the bible and creation is therefo...

Re: Another challenge to Darwinists

ok. this bible thing is something i've sought out for ten years, all of my adult life. and i mean dilligently. i talk to God everyday. now, you said the bible is how you know Him. i have to say that if i only read the bible and didnt seek communion and oneness with Him ouside of just reading the wo...

Re: the need for a bible

Yes that is true... They are propagating lies in the name of Christianity and scripture. So what are you saying then, that all religions can lead to racism?. yes, yes they potentially can. just the same as any hammer can become a weapon. IS a hammer a weapon? no. cant it be? yes. WILL it be? maybe....

in my opinion, based on the literal, mechanical translation from hebrew, i dont know. what are you asking? how long from what starting point?

Re: Another challenge to Darwinists

All I'm saying here is that God created man. From the dust. He did not create monkeys or what have you, and then let them evolve into man. Ah, but what does the Hebrew word for dust imply? Also I agree with you with regards to the word "let". I don't think anything that happened was simpl...

Re: Another challenge to Darwinists

But why is this a bad thing, necessarily? I see this arguement of macro/micro as non-religious in nature from my point of view. I agree with you 100% that God could have used a mechanism (scripturally though, this is still with HIm being involved and retaining soverengty). I've said that all along....

Re: Another challenge to Darwinists

Ok, now you have me confused. How can a Christian POSSIBLY believe in a creator God and still believe that we came from monkeys? God created us in HIS image. Either you believe this or you don't, there is no inbetween. God did not make us from monkeys, nor does God have the image of a monkey. im no...

Re: the need for a bible

i ask you the same thing about mormanism or islam. zealots can do something awful in the name of fundamental (insert any relgion here). do we toss out ALL those for that reason, too? No we reject them because of their lack of authenticiy, their message, and the evidence. http://www.godandscience.or...
