You asked What was the point of the Idols being taken? In Genesis (31:19) Rachel stole Laban's idols, Laban chased after them and searched for them, could not find them due to Rachel hiding them (Genesis 31:34), Jacob was not aware they were stolen (Genesis 31:32) What was the point of this?
