Re: Another theory on reality + this world, free will etc
Good of you to stand up for your beliefs. I have a big problem with relativists. In this universe things work because there are laws of physics in place. These laws are clearly defined and absolute (though we only understand a tiny fraction of them). We can send drones to Mars and they work exactly ...

Re: My creation/evolution theory
"the absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence." I am getting so sick of hearing this on so many forums. Your comments only reinforce my original assertion that the moderb bible isn't perfect. The fact that you state you have to "know how to reconcile many of the issues that ...

Re: My creation/evolution theory
I too believe the original texts were perfect. In those days people took great care in preserving messages and writing things down exactly. However, from those original texts to today's modern bible's there is a considerable gap. You could say the vast majority of it has similar or the same meaning ...

Re: what exactly is forsaking God?
I could not agree with you more. Survival of the fittest, if taken as an ethical base, would allow for the powerful to take what they want.
I think we share very similar opinions over all.

Re: what exactly is forsaking God?
Kurieuo, Sorry, please allow me to clarify a bit. So were they "Christian" or "so-called Christians"? Once again, the definition of Christian varies. Some Christians believe in salvation through beleif (faith) in Christ alone. So in theory, you could commit terrible acts, say you...

I understand your viewpoints, I, long ago, once also thought as you do. Much research and thought later I've come to different conclusions. Someone in the thread had asked me to state my viewpoint and I have.

Re: what exactly is forsaking God?
You can be Chrstian and forsake God too. Just think about all the henious acts committed by so-called Christians in history.
Being true to yourself and being true to God is incompatible with an evil heart. Good and evil are generally quite clearly defined and are definately human constructs.

Re: Aborted Fetuses?
I have a different picture of Spirituality. The afterlife exists in a different dimension to the one we experience. I am convinced that every human has chosen to be born in this world on his own free will. i.e. we are all here willingly. I also agree that when we die our life will be reviewed (judge...

Re: My creation/evolution theory
"I've done probably as much or more research and study as you and appear to have come to a completely different conclusion. Have you studied source material objectively or are you summarizing secondary material you've examined?" I have seen source material with holes in it where words have...

Re: My creation/evolution theory
To the original poster: I read your theory and I think it is incompatible with what we observe. I find it admirable that many Christians try to defend the logic behind what science has discovered and their beliefs. I have done a lot of research on this subject and there's a few conclusions I have co...

Re: The Holy Spirit going in different directions?
"The question is a valid one. If the Holy Spirit is guiding all of us -- individuals and priests and pastors -- why do we have so many different beliefs? Logically, wouldn't we all be getting the same teaching?" No two people on the planet believe in exactly the same God (gods). Even the m...

Re: Aborted Fetuses?
Firstly, jenna, you didn't read the whole thread so you don't know what we're talking about dolphins for. In any case, it would still be ok to compare dophins to humans since we are relatively close relatives of them. Secondly, not all Christian's thinks babies are sin-free. Further, if you read the...

Re: what exactly is forsaking God?
Define Christianity,
As far as I know, the definition of Christianity varies greatly depending on which Christian you ask.
Hence why I broke it down to simpler terms. If you look at Christ's teachings, esentially he's telling people to choose good over evil.

Re: Aborted Fetuses?
"True. How would a fetus or even a six mo. old baby know what evil is?" Evil is a human construct. The baby doesn't know but in a religious context (which we are) there are evil acts, and saying "I didn't now it was wrong" is no excuse in religiuos terms. Of course I'm talking ab...

Re: Aborted Fetuses?
"Babies aren't born with evil hearts. Everything they learn is taught to them, either through their parents or by circumstances that happen to them." This is your opinion. Just that. Studies have shown that there is genetic predesposition to certain behevioural patterns. When a dolphin sav...
