Re: A proposition?

My friend Harry, Where do you come up with this stuff? :shakehead:   I know we've trolled this road before but it bears repeating in simplistic terms: God's view of marriage: 1.) Man comes to God through Christ. Man puts God first. 2.) Woman comes to God through Christ. Woman puts God firs...

Re: Please Introduce Yourself Here

WElcome Adam Thanks Zoegirl, I like your name. Hey, I noticed that most of the predominant members here are Day agers. What kind of reception do YECs like myself get on this site? Get out now and run for your life. (If you're still around then welcome, hope you stick around). Good one, Byblos :poun...

Re: Yes on Proposition 8: California Protect Marriage

I received an e-mail from a right-wing Christian group that is calling for a boycott of Hallmark cards. Hallmark has decided to market "same sex marriage" cards. In response to the boycott, Hallmark released a statement that said, in effect, "Where were you when we released and began...

Re: USA is now an Obama Nation

Prognostications are impossible especially regarding the future  !! As a Christian, I believe that all life is sacred. Therefore, all races are sacred. Mr. Obama's race is not an issue, although it is exciting to see the first African -American president elected in our lifetime. Personally, I d...

Re: Yes on Proposition 8: California Protect Marriage

I don't know if I'd call Britain a Christian country...they have an official church and all, but as I understand it the population is becoming increasingly non-religious...(if anyone on this board lives in Britain, feel free to correct me) No, you're right. But remember, Britain was originally a Ch...

Re: Socialism, Universal Health Care

As Christians we're to give much of what we earn, right? To be God's "hands" on earth. There's a difference between a Christian type of socialism (which would just be called Christian society, say) and a government imposed socialism. I don't see people making the distinction here on the b...

Re: Hate crimes for Christians?

I would like to hear from a few of our Canadian friends on this issue. I understand the hate crimes law has been in effect in that country for some time now and I wonder how it's working. The problem, from what I have heard, is that some countries/states/provinces have had difficulty trying to defin...

Re: To be baptize or not

Hi lufia. I was raised Roman Catholic, saved in a United Methodist Church and recently joined a Baptist church. I was baptized as an infant and immersion baptized last year. If you desire to join a church, you accept the form of worship and the requirements for membership in that church. Although I ...

Re: Cabinet of Catholic Information

I know FL. I had a mother-in-law who was Catholic and pretty arrogant about it... I have (...) a sister-in-law who is quiet about her Catholicism but makes me feel like my mother-in-law did. So, besides reading things about Catholics, these have been my experiences, which mostly are not positive. I...

Re: Question

May I suggest the book "Heaven" by Randy Alcorn.
Although I was never a fan of Alcorn's writing (mostly Christian fiction), this work is well researched, comprehensive and follows scripture. It is an excellent read, well worth anyone's time.

If there is one thing that frustrates me the most is when a skeptic/atheist refuses to allow a response. Maher, when questioned about being heavy handed and downright rude, has responded with, "Hey, I'm a comedian...". The same thing with Penn Gillette, of Penn & Teller fame. There is...

Re: Music

Handels's "Messiah" is inspirational...and not just for Christmas. It reflects the entire life of Christ. Pure scripture set to music. I remember going to hear it at the West Point Cadet Chapel in New York when I first became a Christian. I have always enjoyed Vivaldi's "Four Seasons&...
