Re: Use of the word/term "witness"?
So would the term "Testimony" be a better word? And by testimony I mean: The communication of our experience in how Christ changed our lives, whether by words or by deed. Our testimony can have an effect on people to where they want to know more. But of course the REASON our testimony has...

Re: The Real Church of God
That's amazing. So you approach the Word of God and you have nothing in your mind, your experience, your thinking, your culture and your education that has any impact on how you read those Scriptures? Or you're able to set all of them apart without identifying them? That must be very convenient. Yo...

Re: The Real Church of God
Thanks for all the comments and thoughts concerning the church (and the wellspring of subjects that came surrounding). The most accurate way of addressing the Biblical structure and purpose of God's church are always to be found within scripture. NO opinions, edicts, beliefs or personal convictions...

Re: The Real Church of God
scripture to support you claims? Most certainly! Start with Hebrews and tell me what you think. I don't have much time tonight, but if possible, I'll have more on this tommorrow. BTW, welcome to the board. thanks, it's nice finding this site! ...not to mention making new friends for civilized conve...

Re: The Real Church of God
[.
And don't forget the "Hall of Fame of Faith" in Hebrews. All of them saw the Messiah coming.
somehow we've strayed from the original discussion.. I don't disagree with the fact that from Abraham on, there was a promise of God that would be fulfilled in Jesus. My original...

Re: The Real Church of God
you're gonna have to elaborate on which part of scripture you are saying is "wrong". Those chapters you listed are definitely referring to faith and law, but have nothing to say about Abraham being a member of the church. Taken from YOUR references: (Romans 4:13) "For the promise, tha...

Re: The Real Church of God
Not under the current law which was put into effect at the death/resurrection of Christ. Abraham was under another dispensation (law) and was chosen by God to lead his people. He couldn't have been called a "Christian" because he lived centuries before Christ. Christians (disciples) were f...

Re: Use of the word/term "witness"?
After thought and study, it appears a more correct word would be "discipling" rather than witnessing. The activities of the disciples of scripture did the things that people of our time are calling a witness. So, as we keep within the holy scriptural instruction, examples, and inferences.....

Re: Use of the word/term "witness"?
Many thanks, "zoegirl" for the reply! :D I certainly do understand the point you've made and don't necessarily disagree with it. However there should be a better descriptive word other than witness used because it infers ones own personal observance and experience which can be altered by m...

Use of the word/term "witness"?
I've only been on this site a very short time, but one thing I've noticed on several threads is the use of the word "witness" or "witnessing". I've never been able to understand this term relative to the way many are currently using it. I'm familiar with the various witnesses in ...

Re: The Real Church of God
The establishment of the original church of scripture is one of simplicity. Here are the facts as taken directly from Biblical text: The first century church, that started on the day of Pentecost as recorded in Acts 2, is our pattern today. There exists now a common salvation for all (Jude 1:3). Wha...
