Re: Is modern Christianity REALLY biblical??
I've honestly been a bit bothered by this myself. Jesus said that the church wouldn't die, but the fact is that what we have now was not around for the first 1500 years, so I've been wondering if this means by default that Catholicism or Orthodoxy has to be correct. I do think that Protestantism is ...

Re: Should Christians mix with non-Christians?
I believe it's Matthew Henry who argued otherwise in his commentary of 1 Corinthians 6 - he said that it's wrong for Christians to have non-Christian friends. Suffice it to say that I strongly disagree with him.

Re: The Rapture....and a bunch of "dead" Christians?
I actually have a different question. When we die, will we still remember or recollect the people we knew or the places we went? I would guess so, as the Bible indicates we will be rewarded (or punished) based on our actions on Earth. That being said, I think that the specifics of our lives will se...

Re: Please pray for my son Joshua.
I will pray for your son. Although I will warn that I am a college student who listens to heavy metal (though I do attempt to be discerning of the lyrics to avoid Satanic content), has one tattoo, and has received three speeding tickets in the last couple of years :esmile: I do hope that you can con...

Re: Apollo Astronaut Says Gov. Is Covering Up UFOs
I don't believe in extraterrestrial life for biblical reasons, but I honestly don't know why this guy would be hiding.
Also, when Jimmy Carter was running for president, he promised to uncover the truth about Area 51. It was one promise he never kept..
I really don't know what to think.

Re: This bio-chip and the Mark of the Beast
Assuming a dispensationalist perspective, I would probably feel much closer to the end times living in the early 1940s than I would living today.

Re: Letter From Amsterdam
Thanks for the updates - they're fascinating. In what ways are the bicycles built there to make them sturdier? I've been reacting to high fuel prices by riding my bicycle more, but I find its design to be less efficient than ideal.

Re: Speaking in tongues.
Thank you for an excellent post that hits on an important theme, namely, God's sovereignty. (It also figures in to the age of the Earth debates on the rest of this site when people argue on what God should have done rather than what God actually did.) I consider myself a cessationist, but I know I c...

Re: Christians will fall away at the end times...
It's a very legitimate concern and one that frightens me as well. I am not a pre-tribulationist, and I fear that if that interpretation turns out to be incorrect, the Christian community will be ill prepared, especially as nominal Christianity often passes for legitimate Christianity today, especial...

Re: Who goes to hell?
C.S. Lewis's suggestion in TGD that people have the choice to leave hell seems to be without biblical support, although it is put forth by philosophers, it seems contradicted by passages such as the Lazarus parable.

Yes, various heresies and branch offs did result, but Biblical Christianity also remained. In any event, this particular discussion probably ought to be moved to one of the other forums, as we've diverted pretty far from the original topic.

Re: favorite summer things
Being in college, I like the more relaxed schedule (though I am taking summer classes). I like walking downtown in the late evening with it still being light out and it still being warm, and playing chess outside against the downtown chess players. I like going to baseball games (I haven't made it t...
