Re: Apollo Astronaut Says Gov. Is Covering Up UFOs
I think it's a load of bull. That said I have absolutely no problem with the notion of ET life existing out there somewhere. The Bible is silent on the matter, after all. I wonder what the effect on many believer would be if the dug up some fossilised single cell organisms? I suspect that quite a fe...

You should change to firefox instead. It's a much more elegant and versatile browser, IMO. All those delightful extensions

Re: Resurrection - Letting Punishment Slide
Welcome, Screwtape You need to look back at the Levitical laws concerning the sacrafices, the yearly atonement of sin and the such. The Day of Atonement was something done annually, and was only a temporary covering of ones sin. If you look at some of the minor prophets, even the psalmists you can ...

Re: What are the top arguments atheists should NOT use?
So what i understood from SaintGeorge's post is that we should take Genesis as a poem and symbolically!! :) OK but how do we know we are not to take other parts like that as well? How are we to distinguish which parts were meant literally and which are symbolic? Does the Bible mention that some par...

Re: Resurrection - Letting Punishment Slide
Thanks for the reply, zoegirl. I understand your point. Indeed, it was something that I considered myself. However, if Jesus already paid the penalty for our sins (and that still leaves my original question outstanding: why did did God simply not forgive our sin?), is it not then a form of double pu...

Re: Please Introduce Yourself Here
Thanks for the Welcome. Yes, I would agree that the Bible (and certain Christians religions) teaches that honest questioning is the bedrock of faith.
Out of curiosity, is this an active forum? I have a lot of questions

Re: Please Introduce Yourself Here
Hi folks, I recently encountered this site and decided to join up for some alternative Christian views and perspectives. I've been a Christian as long as I care to remember, however, I've always taken my faith for granted. Despite considering myself a Christian since childhood, I've always had a wee...

Resurrection - Letting Punishment Slide
I've often heard the resurrection reduced to rather simplistic terms for the purpose of dismissing it. This argument generally goes along the lines of something like: the resurrection is nothing more than God sacrificing himself to himself in order to adhere to his own rules . Can anybody think of a...

Good article, Rich.
One question, though. How would the theory of the muliverse or a universe that is ever created and destroyed fit in with you article. It seems to me that the atheist could easily argue from either of these two positions and effectively invalidate your argument.

Memetic Theory
Hi folks, First time poster here. I'm wondering what Christians think of memetics/ memetic theory in relation to faith, specifically Christian faith. On my internet travels, memetics is often quoted by people as an explanation for religion and the continuance of it to this day. Ultimately, I've ofte...
