Prayer for the Deems
As most of you know, my wife, Carole, has had a brain tumor for some time. Back in 1996 at the initial diagnosis, she had prayed that God would allow her to raise our three sons, Matthew, Andrew, and Mark. God has granted that request, since the youngest, Mark, is now 16 year old. However, Carole's ...

Re: Humans cause yeast to become multicellular, a threat to
PNAS is not a peer-reviewed journal. I am sure that if they had tried to get their study published in a real peer-reviewed science journal, the referees would have asked for additional experimental results. They also would not have allowed some of the outlandish statements that were made in the arti...

Re: Humans cause yeast to become multicellular, a threat to
I read the original article in PNAS. What they did was do selection experiments by removing cells that did not settle quickly. Essentially, they selected for cells that stuck to each other. They used the word “genotype” in their paper, but never looked at anything other than phenotype (quick settlin...

The idea of two separate tubes is a really bad idea, since when you had a cold, you would die from an inability to breathe. Occasional chocking is better than dying from your first sinus infection!

Re: Time in Heaven
You don't have any questions for God? I have a million. The teaching in the Bible is very condensed. We haven't gone much further in science. Too many questions!

Re: Natural Evil
The point you missed is that the universe was designed to choose between good and evil. Without the possibility of evil, no choice is possible. Because evil choices are possible, the laws of the universe must restrict the actions of free moral agents. Practically speaking, this means that the univer...

Pew Forum Religious Knowledge Survey
The Pew Forum released a survey that indicates most Americans can only answer 50% of the questions in their religious knowledge survey. I took their abbreviated survey (15 questions) and got 15/15 correct. The questions were not difficult by any means. So, I have added the complete questionnaire to ...

Re: Hawking and the new Atheists (part of a bigger problem).
You don't need to be a sociopath to dislike being challenged on moral grounds. The Christian's first reaction is usually denial or deflection. However, often the Holy Spirit convicts us of our error and we repent. For the atheist, the process ends at the first step.

Re: Hawking and the new Atheists (part of a bigger problem).
Good point. It is a spiritual issue. Unbelievers do not want to be confronted on spiritual issues. You won't find atheists harping about Buddhism, because one is basically given free reign to find one's own way - no accountability. However, Christianity preaches that there is such a thing as righteo...

Thanks for your prayers for Carole
A number of you have been praying for my wife Carole, who has a brain tumor. In July, there was an indication that Carole's brain tumor was growing. However, two followup MRIs showed that the increased contrast was probably due to seizure activity, rather than tumor growth, which is good news. As a ...
