Re: Second Way Clarification
That's incredibly high praise and I thank you for it. Truth be told I'll probably write all of them, as I see a theme of sorts in them all. Make them part of a series. Just have to decide which is the priority and which would make the most sense following DS.

Re: Understanding the Trinity
I did, jenna. I thought you were talking about not getting into a long discussion on your belief that the HS is not a person and is merely a created thing. My post was a continuation of a conversation we were already having. But if you wish to end that conversation, that's your prerogative. I will, ...

Re: Second Way Clarification
I would probably not deal with the problem of evil ( or suffering) since it is an emotional one and not one that can be dealt intellectually. I completely agree the PoE is an emotional and not intellectual problem. Were I to choose this, that's exactly why I would write on it, so that I could expan...

Re: Second Way Clarification
I agree, Paul, and you're right that's fair. Add to that, this is a discussion board and people can talk about whatever they want, and given how highly nuanced some of these things are, I'm not surprised when something with as much gravity as the Big Bang (pardon the pun) takes over a conversation a...

Re: Second Way Clarification
The other major problem here, though (and I think this is deeper), is that we have the Kalam Cosmological Argument in the back of our mind. We here "efficient cause" and we tend to think "bring into being." But we have to be really careful here, because "bringing into being...

I think I'm going to report both of you to the moderating team! If they don't help me, maybe Brian will know what to do. All you do is suffer in silence. Marriage should have trained you for that. Btw, the south WILL NOT rise again. y[-( And y'all can take that to the bank! Hello, election 2016 and...

Re: "What time is"
Jac: My point is that metaphysics are physics are interrelated... True - as the latter came from and was produced from within the former. You actually have that backwards. Meta means "after." Metaphysics are what we see must be true after we study physics. No! There once was NO physical r...

Re: "What time is"
One more point, btw. If physics were to demonstrate that the B-Theory of time is correct (or, if you prefer, to falsify the A-Theory), our understanding of time as depicted in the OP would necessarily change. So, again, it just isn't true that metaphysics is independent of physics. As an aside, we c...

Re: "What time is"
I don't think anyone is saying that, Audie. If proof of god via first cause etc is offered in any part on the basis of a profound misunderstanding ofvwhat time is, then-? No. The question of God's existence via the First Way (to offer a specific example of a first cause argument) is in no way relat...

Re: Understanding the Trinity
this actually makes sense in a way. BUT. in order to be born as human, Christ would have had to change His very nature (from Being to human being) in order to be able to die. I know both K and Byblos addressed this some, but then the thread got of course a bit. I really do think this is really a hu...

Re: Understanding the Trinity
ok, one more question i must ask. am i understanding this correctly? One being (God) three persons? Depending on how you mean "one," but that's much closer than you were originally. The proper statement is that in the unity of the Godhead there are Three Persons . You need to be very caut...
