A long way to say that I agree with your position Jac (even though you haven't stated it). And hey, welcome back - it's been a while since I've seen you post. Yeah, I think I actually referenced this verse in the OSAS discussion. I love how much gets read into it ;) And thanks for the WB. I've been...

Actually, atheists, to me, are the easiest to debate. You have to first recognize the fact that you aren't going to change their mind. They have a belief that God does not exist, and it is a very irrational belief. Therefore, rationality typically isn't going to change their mind. I just lay out a &...

vvart is basically right. Each translation uses its own system of notation. But, as a standard rule of thumb, brackets are usually used to indicate text not found in the original manuscripts, but rather text that was added in (I've not read the HCSB). The use of parenthesis and commas typically foll...

Hey skoob, Not that the post is directed at me, but since, by your definition, I'd be considered "closed minded," I thought a response would be appropriate :D First things first, we have to differentiate between Truth and observations. Dismissing, for the sake of argument, skeptical positi...

how do you interpret Hebrews 6:4-6

For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since ...

more mormon heresy

So, apparently, Mormon's also believe that Adam IS God: Now hear it, O inhabitants of the earth, Jew and Gentile, Sant and sinner! When our father Adam came into the garden of Eden, he came into it with a celestial body, and brought Eve, one of his wives, with him. He helped to make and organize thi...

I believe the soul remains the same always—it never changes. What does change is whether or not the soul possesses a body wherein its capacities can function. Soul and body combined together both produce a "living soul," that is a soul that can interact with the world. Genesis 2:7 support...

I've never even heard the first arguments on the issue, so I'm utterly clueless. I keep telling myself I need to find out the different positions and their evidences. Any good places to start?

There are some issues I have to plead ignorance on. The Bible does condemn, a lot, consulting with the dead. The Bible clearly teaches the existence of a spiritual realm. The Bible has some strong things to say about Hell, but there are some interpretational differences concerning the OT and NT idea...

I'm not sure dictionaries really have the authority to set a particular definition for terms used in deep philosophical issues on metaphysics ;). Eh, I mention them because the actual purpose of a dictionary is to define a word's semantic range. Ideally, I would use Oxford's or some other equivelan...

Even Christians argue amongst themselves despite living under the same moral code...what does that mean? It means that within the Bible, people will only look for passages that relate to their specific philosophy. In that aspect, any religion can find solstice through any other religion. Couldn't i...
