Re: Infinite punishment for finite sins
My current belief is that there will be a judgment and sentence and punishment for all who reject Christ but it will not last forever but until it serves it purpose and ends in destruction/perishing. And what purpose does judgement and sentence and punishment serve? In any case, given that I haven'...

Re: Question about a modified problem of evil...
But things like the Holocaust, or tens of thousands of children who die of famine every day, these things obviously are. These are two different things. Killing people for no other reason than for their belief, absolutely evil. Children not having enough food to eat, absolutely tragic, but I wouldn...

How do you do that? How do you define your own purpose?humblesmurph wrote: I don't believe that I live a life of hopeless existence without any purpose. I define my own purpose.

The assertion that matter exists because of gravity is like saying cars exist because of highways or that 1's and 0's exist because of computers.

Re: The "Gossip" thread
Just for clarification. The intent of my post was not to condone any type of abuse, public or private, but to point out the we as Christians must pursue transparency when the rest of the world must run from it, comprehend the light while the rest of the world embraces the darkness. And so this state...

Re: The "Gossip" thread
Just notifying all it has been removed at the request of some. Many went to a lot of effort with their posts. If anyone who posts a lot in the thread wants a copy please PM me. Thanks everyone! That's too bad. I can understand why it must have been removed, but I feel, probably more so than most an...

Re: CURSES!!
Have there ever even been instances of people being "cursed" or anything that I should know about? Have there ever been instances of people being "blessed"? I think that through the acknowledgement that blessings exist or occur, by default you acknowledge that cursings exist or ...

Re: Question about a modified problem of evil...
Upon further reflection, you could also come at it from a perspective of semantics. Does pain and/or suffering necessarily equate to evil? Scripture certainly says no. I think a case could be made that evil, according to God's word, has more to do with acting outside of God's will than tribulation. ...

Re: Question about a modified problem of evil...
This question almost always invariably turns into, "if I was God, this is how I would do it." We attempt to project our finite reasoning onto infinite wisdom. I believe the subscription to glory is the correct one, but that really is cold comfort to those outside of a relationship with God...

Re: Why Create?
I submitted this question because I believe one's perspective with regards to God's motive for creation has an impact as to one's stance on Genesis. I find it interesting that this statement: To be honest, I really do not know what God's motives were. If I were forced to answer though, I would have ...

Re: Why Create?
I need to repair my car. I don't own the tool I need to make the repair. I then create the tool need to make the repair. Did I create the tool for the sake of having it in my toolbox? Please allow me to rephrase. I desire to repair my car. The tool that would best accomplish this task does not exis...

Re: Why Create?
I agree. This is the purpose. Actually the answer is given in Isaiah.. We are created for His glory.. Isaiah 43:1-7 (New International Version) 1 But now, this is what the LORD says— he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned yo...
