Re: Sinful Nature
God is the Creator of all, and the Creator of all methods. Why did He decide to let spiritual depravity be passed on from parent to offspring? Why couldn't each person have gotten a clean slate to decide for themselves? Hey Narnia, I believe *we do* have a clean slate. When the text talks of sin en...

Re: OEC/YEC ...
Had to respond here. I quoted you in another thread, Think of the impeccable balance of the mass of the proton/electron/neutron et cetera and how if any of these mass were moved even one thousand thousandth of an inch then the universe would not be fit for life. You just said that so well that it t...

Re: Did God create others after Adam and Eve?
How does the third mentioned son equal the third son? If I say, "I have a daughter," does that mean that I don't have a son? Genesis 1-2 never mentions bacteria. Does that mean that God didn't create it? Using your "literal hermeneutic," it seems to me that is the necessary conc...

Re: Why?
Not true. Atheism (actually agnosticism) is the absence of belief. Do you believe in Zeus? (Many people did in the past.) If not, you're an agnostic wrt Zeus. I think virtually all "atheists" are really agnostics. Not believing in Santa Claus is a form of agnosticism, not believing in oth...

Re: Why?
And your morals come through God, and handed down through 2000 years of western civilisation, built on Christianity. Any morals you possess have nothing whatsoever to do with your faith - a-theism, which was founded as a protest. Your morals come through being born and raised in a Christian culture...

Re: Why?
Hey everyone, Just a few thoughts! Why are believers so positive that Christianity's real? I just don't get it. You all say faith, but that's just basically "wanting" something to be real. I'm only 18 but a few years ago I'd always find myself dismissing anything that made me doubt god wa...

Hey, I am OEC myself. Here is a link that will be helpful for you. Don't forget to read through the rest of the site(God and science main pages, not just this board), as it will be verry helpful. Sorry I didn't write my reasoning, well maybe I will just a little... I believe God is an intellegent i...

Re: Did God create others after Adam and Eve?
Yes, and I *am* reading Seth as being the third son- I *haven't* stated otherwise. Tell me, can you show me a verse that says that Seth was the third born son, or is that conjecture on your part? While your at it, would you care to explain to me how Adam and Eve managed to have only three children ...

Re: Omniscience and free will
God knows what we will do. Doesn't that mean He also knows whether we are going to change? Doesn't He know what we ultimately will do? In effect, doesn't He know NOW who will be saved and who will not? In which case, why does He have us play out our roles since He already knows the outcome? Can we ...

Re: Did God create others after Adam and Eve?
Dan, you are ignoring the text. Adam had Cain (which we assume to be the first child). He later had Abel (who knows how many between? Text doesn't say!). Chapter 4 tells us that Cain murded Abel. We don't know how old they were. THEN we have the birth of Seth. Loo again at the verse: Adam lay with ...

Re: Did God create others after Adam and Eve?
Right here: Adam lay with his wife again, and she gave birth to a son and named him Seth, saying, "God has granted me another child in place of Abel, since Cain killed him." Gen 4:25. But it doesn't say "God has *immediately* granted me another child in place of Abel, since Cain kill...

Re: Omniscience and free will
God knows what you will do, but he also knows you can change and do something different. Example: You are going to rob a bank tomorrow (please don't!) and God does something, (maybe he just puts into your heart not to), now you may rob the bank, but there is also a chance that you will decide not t...

Re: Did God create others after Adam and Eve?
Didn't I answer that already, Dan? In fact, let's go FURTHER - Gen 5 tells us that Adam was 130 when he had Seth. Now, Seth was considered the replacement for Abel, so it is apparent that he was the first boy born after Abel's murder. That means that Adam was well over 100 years old when Cain murde...

Re: Did God create others after Adam and Eve?
Questin for anyone denying a coexistent creation-
If both Cain and God feared reprisals for the killing of Abel, then from whom did they fear these reprisals? How many nonexistent "brothers" and "sisters" do we propose there to be?
Dan

Re: Did God create others after Adam and Eve?
Question for DannyM If there was another existent creation, and Adam was only the first "spiritual" man, then what happened to those people from the existent creation when they died? Did they go to Abraham's Bosom? If they were not "spiritual", then what is a "spiritless&qu...
