Re: Omniscience and free will

Re: Omniscience and free will

wayne thanks for responding it was actually unexpected. I will reply to your response, however i do not want to interfere with the discussion you are both having. It would over all detract from the content as i am in much agreement with Jacs thoughts and the proposals he is placing to you.In effect y...

Re: Omniscience and free will

Jac i concure with B.W. Well said. if you don't mind me interjecting ---- The hypothesis that morality is based on cultural or social agreement from an evolutionary process is not valid. From an evolutionary perspective in relation to the "selfish gene " hypothosis the fact that we humans ...

Re: Smiting

G'day B.W. So does not sin make one's heart - severe, obstinate, difficult, fierce, intense, vehement, stubborn, stiff of neck, and resistant as these things define what is meant by Hard Heart... Reading this and the rest of your post i believe that in reality our understanding of how God hardens a ...

quote="DannyM"] Now forgive my sarcasm, Topic, I know it's not attractive.[/quote] I do not have a problem how anyone talks or writes as long as it is with respect, if it is done with this intent then there is no slure or insult. Saying that i have to admit that i have on occasion be told ...

Re: Smiting

The verses you show are of affliction, they have no bearing on how you are suggesting God directly hardens ones heart. I do believe God does harden hearts, but only by letting man fall to their desires and not as you are suggesting, directly inflicting them to continue to commit sin by not letting t...

Re: The Rise of Man

God even praises Man for "...now being like one of us, knowing good and evil." This is not God "praising"man, but stating a fact. If it was a praise then he would not have needed to remove man from the garden.God is only acknowledging what the act has produced, thus confirming Go...

Re: Smiting

Everyone's heart is hard. can you clarify this. Are you saying that sin = a hardened heart and therefore "everyones heart is hard? When Christ says (to paraphrase) "1/3 will believe, 1/3 will think about it, and 1/3 will not listen at all", and " "Let the little children co...

Re: The Rise of Man

I want to claim that the so-called "Fall of Man" is nothing of the sort. I want to clain this is the Rise of Man. This is a very good question. I personaly do not see anything wrong with questioning anything. The replies so far also acknowledge this, so you need not feel you have to vindi...

Re: Can science and faith really coexist? Please convince me...

The problem of the early evolution of life and the unfounded optimism of scientists was well put by Dawkins. He concluded that Earth's chemistry was different on our early, lifeless, planet, and that at this time there existed ...no life, no biology, only physics and chemistry, and the details of th...

Re: Can science and faith really coexist? Please convince me...

Science can tolerate faith, as long as people don't try to impose their faith upon science. For example the Genesis myth is completely incompatible with science, and there are some who believe that the account of Genesis is literally true. When such people try and replace proper science, with their...

Re: Doubts

Munchkin, Doubt is not a bad at all. You have expressed concern about feeling you are becoming detached from God.From my observations such feelings and acts are recognition that there is an attachement to yourself and God, if you didn't care and had no connection, then the lose would not affect you, ...

Re: Gay Marriage Video(s)

Outside observation by an inquisitive person. ( I am not from the U.S.A.) So what homosexuality is actually asking to be married or does it cover the full gambit? If people are going to vote fore or against shouldn't they be fully informed on what it is they are voting for? If they have been can som...

Re: Smiting

POINT 1. - An personal appearance by a god/gods such that I could be sure (to a reasonable level) that I was not hallucinating. This would mean being in the presence of multiple other people who could confirm the event. The event would have to be concrete rather than a group of people feeling "...
