Re: Ardi - Ardipithecus ramidus

Portions? There are entire sections missing from the remains... As an example how does one come up with the rib cage here? //image3.examiner.com/images/blog/EXID10722/images/Ardy2.jpg I'm not sure on this one so I'll have to go do some reading - but I think the featured picture is of the Ardi indiv...

Re: Ardi - Ardipithecus ramidus

Bipedialism didn't just appear, it was a gradual process typical of evolution. Recent studies have shown that the 'split' probably occured over 10 million years ago. Wrong. Just in evolutionary theory there are more than twelve distinct hypotheses as to how and why bipedalism evolved in humans with...

Re: Can science and faith really coexist? Please convince me...

If responses like that are where your argument has degenerated to, then I'm done. You missed my point... You said that your DNA sequence has "nothing that wasn't passed down from your two parents" and that's true, to a limited extent; you will have some traits from recessive genes evident...

Re: Ardi - Ardipithecus ramidus

“Chalky”? “Squished”? “Badly crushed and distorted”? “Needed extensive digital reconstruction”? After all the media hype and overblown claims about importance of Ida, forgive me for having an initial reaction of skepticism. How far would you trust a “Rosetta stone” that was initially “crushed ...

Re: Ardi - Ardipithecus ramidus

The species is to modern to be a common ancestor of humans and chimps - instead it is suspected to be on the branch between humans and the most recent common ancestor. Exactly what I said... The way you worded it, it sounded like you meant A. ramidus was a common ancestor of both us and chimps. Apo...

... http://www.reasons.org/fossil-record/transitional-forms/leap-two-feet-sudden-appearance-bipedalism I'm not sure when this article was written, but it doesn't cite any research published after 2001...they seem to have mangled their figures a little. The human-chimp last common ancestor was thoug...

Re: Ardi - Ardipithecus ramidus

I can see understand your ire, limerick. Many of these scientists do work hard and do painstaking research that compares and contrasts the bones. I think CSLL and Gman brought up good points, however, about the overblown nature of the fossil. Many times the media is to blame, oversimplifying the co...

Re: Ardi - Ardipithecus ramidus

I don't think so. Any species involved with possible evolutionary connections to humans is going to be drawn the way scientists believe it actually looked (especially its skeleton), particularly when it comes to its gait. Anything else would be deceptive. One of the 11 research articles on A. ramid...

Re: Ardi - Ardipithecus ramidus

I need to read up on it, but it's hard to believe that it would be standing that straight up . . . (I didn't think there was any sarcasm or animosity  ). It's fairly common to have anatomical drawings done in this way - makes it easier to see the proportion of limbs and what not compared to i...

the effects of such changes on whole-organism performance capacity and the consequences on ecological dynamics at the population level are often unclear . I read through the complete article. although there was some info on DNA, i failed to see where it demonstrated brand new information. The artic...

Not just descendants, genetically identical. Here's a quote from a related article: Tail clips taken for DNA analysis confirmed that the Pod Mrcaru lizards were genetically identical to the source population on Pod Kopiste. The genome of the Mcraru lizards codes for cecal valves whereas that of the...

regarding the valves being new info. I would say, prove it. We have documented proof of traits that can change without any new information being created. What genetic proof do you have of new information? There are 2 islands, Kopiste and Mcraru. The Mcraru population of lizards can be shown (via mi...
