Re: can god be good if he created evil?

We don't need one of the choices to be evil. Both choices could be good. We would not be robots just becasue one of our choices is not an evil one. There doesn't seem to be a reason fof the existence of evil, but God created evil as a choice for us, so there must be some reason. Ok, please define w...

Re: What makes non-believers disbelieve?

How is faith logical? With the lack of any evidence, how is it logical to believe in something? Try to think of how many things you believe on faith then imagine your life if you didn't. I mentioned faith as being illogical when there is no evidence, not faith in things we can know. I have faith th...

Re: What makes non-believers disbelieve?

What part of my comment are you refering to as a strawman arguement? The whole thing. Believing what science says takes just as much faith in things that cannot be detected with the senses. I know how the scientific method works, by the way. How do you get to know what the "scientific method&q...

Re: Why was Jesus born of a virgin?

Was Jesus born of a virgin? Growing up as a Christian, this is what I have been taught, but this is not what the original Hebrew texts state. Christians quote Isaiah 7:14-16 as a prophecy of Jesus' birth. In some translations of the Bible today it states a virgin birth. This is taken from the Septua...

Co-operation and communication between humans is at an all time high in recorded history. These have led to amazing technological developments these days. We are now having ethical debates about cloning and designer babies. Was this what God was preventing when He sent lingual confusion? Were those...

Re: Why is there death and problems...etc

I believe that EVERY bit of evil and suffering would cease IMMEDIATEDLY if everyone on this planet were to see their need for Christ and turn to Him now. You might be right that, if everyone immediately turned to Christianity, the world would be a much better place. In fact, I'm sure you're right. ...

Re: Creationist Explanation for Bigfoot, Lochness, etc

Since many different cultures have "bigfoot" myths, it is from campfire stories passed on since the days when Neandertals walked the earth side by side with us.

Re: The mystery of sin and God the Benevolent

God could have created a world with free will but the absence of evil, but he did not. He must have wanted us to experience evil for some reason, although he could have made a universe devoid of it altogether. If there is free will in Heaven then free will does not require evil and it makes it very...

Re: Please rationalise Numbers 31 in light of a loving god?

In an earier post to this thread I mentioned that God was actually showing mercy by killing the having the Israelites kill the children of their enemies. The children were not murdered, just killed. If a Christan kills his/her child, it is not murder, but a mercy killing just like thwe Bible shows ...

Re: can god be good if he created evil?

God may not create evil, but he certainly allows it to happen. It could be argued that allowing evil is evil itself. If I see a child playing in the street and a car about to hit the child and do nothing, is it evil of me to allow the child to be hit? Perhaps the child is hit, is crippled, but does...

Re: What makes non-believers disbelieve?

I think the main thing that makes unbelievers not believe is that what we believe about the Bible has to be taken by faith. God is not physical to us. We don't see him with our eyes or hear him with our ears. We can not sence him with any of the 5 senses. A lot of what used to be seen as God interv...
