Re: YEC, OEC? How'd you get there?
Jac, I'm interested in why you see animal death before Adam's sin to be such a problem bibically. Man is the only creature that needs redemption from sin. Even if I assume a 24 hour consecutive day model, do you really think no animals died even accidentally before Adam's sin? I guess even if I were...

Re: Internet Monk - OEC declaration
Michael Spenser is often referred to as the Internet Monk and is one of the leading blogger voices in what is often referred to as the post-evangelical movement. I happened to come across this post of his in his blog in which he declares himself OEC and why. I thought it might be of interest for so...

Re: YEC, OEC? How'd you get there?
Jac, seeing how you believe in yec, what books would you recommend for their exegesis. I'm interested in reading a book from the yec side that actually makes sense to me. Thanks

Danny, have you always had common sense, or did you once believe in evolution, or yec?DannyM wrote:Common sense.

Re: YEC, OEC? How'd you get there?
Jac, Have you read "A Matter of Days" by Hugh Ross? That book explains all of the problems you stated with oec, and how they line up biblically. If you have read it, I'd like to know your opinions about what Ross has to say about death before Adam's sin, all animals being vegetarian, the f...

Re: Genesis 8:21 What does "all" mean?
Hi Rick, You will find your answer here.. http://www.godandscience.org/apologetics/localflood.html#TqX1d4Fadpd4[/quote] I don't see the answer in there for my specific question. It doesn't mention Genesis 8:21. My niv bible says, "And never again will I destroy all living creatures as I have d...

Genesis 8:21 What does "all" mean?
Genesis 8:21 ..."And never again will I destroy all living creatures, as I have done." Some oec models hold to a local, and universal flood. As in God destroyed all people (except those on the ark), and all creatures associated with mankind. Not all creatures on the face of the earth, just...

YEC, OEC? How'd you get there?
My question is for anyone. OEC, YEC, or any other Creation model. How did you get to the point which you believe what you do? I'll start with why I lean to the side of Day-Age. I listened to people like Ken Ham, Henry Morris and other YEC'S who claimed to be Christian. They seemed to say that if one...

Re: Old Earth Problems?
As I understand it. Yom can literally mean a long, finite period of time. So, with that, how can anyone say that "day" in Genesis absolutely cannot mean anything other than a 24 hour day? Ricky, 1. Yom = one 12 hour period 2. Yom = one 24 hour period 3. Yom = one period of time ... e'g. I...

Doesn't oec believe in a literal days translation? I know not 24 hour days, but still a "literal" translation?Canuckster1127 wrote:Who has mislead people into believing creation was in literal days and within a 6,000 year time frame?

Re: Old Earth Problems?
Ok, I found what I was looking for. In "A Matter of Days" by Ross, on page 104, he talks about how since Satan rebelled before Adam, to hold Adam responsible for all decay and death in the universe would distort the history of sin and God's response to it.

Re: Old Earth Problems?
[Ross is perfectly correct in his views on animal suffering and death before the fall. Ham's main "argument" was Why did God call the creation "very good" if there was animal suffering, death etc. This is no kind of argument at all, as "very good" could and probably *do...

Re: Old Earth Problems?
That is a good point about Ham having a predetermined position, and looking for things that line up with that position. Instead of praying, studying, and searching with an openness to the truth. It just seems to me that there is some sort of agenda with Ham. I don't know what it is, but his lack of ...

Re: Old Earth Problems?
In fairness, when I googled and searched for a direct quote on this issues, I did find at least once where Ham or an author on Answers in Genesis specifically stated that they did not doubt Ross' salvation. However, there are also multiple cases where there are statements made about Ross or about O...
