Re: Why can't I believe in this?

Well I'm an atheist I think I don't know what the exact qualifications for one is, but I'm in a Christian family, been in Christian schools, and know quite a bit about the Bible at least for the average Christian or above I think. But I don't believe there is a God or Heaven or Hell and I been tryi...

Re: Two years ago

Two years ago I asked God to help me stop smoking. Well I wasn't really making an effort to stop so I guess God step in and took over. I ended up in the hospital for 5 day with double pneumonia. I wasn't able to smoke when I was sick and I was not allowed to smoke in the hospital. Afterwards I didn...

That is a hard Stumbling Block huh... Sometimes because we are unsure of something you have to rely on your Faith. Unfortunately not everything in the Bible can be Scientific and we have to rely on Faith at some point about the things the Bible Says. Maybe someone else has a better answer? Paul say...

No.

Being a slave to an addiction is a sin - because you are serving another master. Same with alcohol - same with eating.

IMHO of course.

Long long lives

I think I am pretty ok with the majority of Genesis now - but so far nothing that I have heard or read, for me is adequate to explain how at the beginning of the old testament people had exceedingly long lifes - up to a thousands years. The rest of Genesis - to me - matches up very nicely with the D...

Well I have only read the first few chapters and it is mind blowing stuff - I recommend this book to anyone - even if you do not follow all of Ross's conclusions. Good stuff.

God Bless

Re: Christian Life Questions

I've been browsing the God and Science site (brilliance! absolute brilliance!) and came upon one article -- Brownies with a Difference. I've been a Christian...pretty much all my life. As well as having faith, I try to stay on the right path; I don't go to wild drunken parties, or hang out with peo...

Good review 1127. After reading that I have just ordered it myself. I have read Hughs other book and quite enjoyed it. You are right that some christians don't seem to get that God created the sciences and the earth - why would he make them so contradict each other in such a vast way - just to decie...

Re: Davinci Code

This all goes in hand with "Davinci Code" and host of other books. First they try and say Jesus never existed, and since that doesn't work they try to change the truth. Now there is a movie coming and it will be hard to ignore. As far as this Gospel goes .. ... Matthew was written at leas...

The romans did indeed carry out the execution but it was Joseph and the Marys that buried him. There was indeed seperate cloths - one for the head and one for the body as described in John. However, like I said before they already have the head shroud that matches with the turin shroud.

Re: shroud

Although I find the shroud interesting, I also find it irrelevant. No matter what tests are done, or what the findings are, nothing can ever be proven about it in relation to Christ and nothing changes if they say it is of Christ or not. To me it's mildly interesting, but that is all. Ray Fair enou...

New Evidence for the Turin Shroud

Did anyone see the Channel 4 program "The Shroud of Christ" on Easter Sunday - Absolutely fascinating. Well it had long been excepted that it was a fake but they have realised that the piece of the cloth that they carbon dated was highly contaminated during the medival times do to the way ...

It certainly is interesting that the Vatican are now reviewing how they see Judas in the bible. Maybe they had been forewarned of the release of this document? It will be interesting to see what it says - but you are right - an other piece of Gnosticsm propaganda. Why did gnosticsm come about in the...

That is a good point. I think the authorship of the letter will spread light on that issue.
