Re: Jesus's sacrifice not really much of a sacrifice?
That's not gonna convince a non believer. You can look at it and say its not much of a bill he had to pay. What did Jesus lose in this sacrifice? If I was immortal and jumped off a bridge to save a falling child is it really sacrifice knowing the consequences of that action? Sure he sacrificed his ...

Re: Jesus's sacrifice not really much of a sacrifice?
I have heard some people complain that if Jesus was God as well as man, then His sufferings and death lose all value in their eyes, "because it must have been so easy for Him": Others may (very rightly) rebuke the ingratitude and ungraciousness of this objection; what staggers me is the m...

Re: Christian Music
For all of you rock fans: I recently purchased Flyleaf's new CD, and I really recommend it to Christians! While their first CD was pretty ambiguous, this one is full of really deep, Scriptural lyrics. I love how bold Lacey comes across in her singing. Good album indeed. My favorites from it are Cir...

Re: Animals and Heaven
To those of you thinking you might miss your friends/pets when you are in heaven, I'd like to ask why you think this. How do you know we will even remember this life after judgment? Scripture tells us that in heaven "He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourni...

Re: Beginning of Atheistic Thinking?
I apologize I read "purpose" but you did say meaning. Which admittedly stumps me. I know what objective means, but you add meaning to it and I am at a loss. purpose: the quality of being determined to do or achieve something meaning: rich in significance or implication So what I mean is, ...

Re: Beginning of Atheistic Thinking?
I am getting off track, but the long and short answer to your question is Atheism has "come out of the closet" with the separation of church and state that most of the western world now enjoys. That was not present in ancient Greece, was not present in Europe until a couple hundred years ...

Re: What is Child Like Faith? Mark 10: 13-15
The childlike faith/trust idea is good and I have no problems with it, but I'm not so sure that's how the people of that time would have understood it. Children are basically just a drain of resources. They have to be fed and taken care of, and for quite a while they are too young to work to help ge...

Re: Could we be in a three dimensional world?
I'm afraid I don't really understand what you mean... but to answer the question in the title: length, width, height, and time - I count 4 dimensions. Or do you mean something else by "dimensions"?

Re: The Story of Everything - Stephen Hawking
I watched the first episode (the one about aliens) and the second episode (about time travel), and I have the newest one (I guess "the story of everything" one?) on DVR. I'll probably watch that one later tonight, but I guess I don't have much to look forward to? I didn't much care for the...

Re: Noah's ark "discovery'...
Not that I wouldn't be really excited if it really was Noah's ark, but... Why are you guys so sure that Noah's ark is still around? I mean, surely the wood would have decayed after thousands of years. And even if it didn't, a ton of pre-cut lumber open for the taking- what post-flood civilization wo...

The belief that at first there was a singularity, and it suddenly decided to explode and expand causing time and space. Then it created flying chunks of space rocks which collided and created a planet earth. On this earth were cells, which evolved into monkeys, which evolved into us. That makes tot...

Re: Is the sol system a very specific place?
Because you need life on a planet for it to be suitable for lifeforms(that doesn't sound entirely obvious now does it?) That sounds obvious, but it is not necessarily true. A planet being suitable for lifeforms is required for there to be life on that planet. However, the opposite is not required t...
