Re: "Everything is God's fault."
@Jlay: as I told you on the other thread, my view is that all evil is caused by Satan and other demons. Free will, and its irrevocable nature, is why God must tolerate them for some time. It's called the "warafe" theodicy, and it has a great deal of biblical support. @Canuckster: I am sugg...

Re: "Everything is God's fault."
And just in case some ignorant, incompetent, intellectually dishonest individual pops up and accuses me of attacking Christianity or whatever, I'll be happy to lay out the theodicy that I think makes sense if I am asked to.

Re: "Everything is God's fault."
I am very confident that it is the argument that because, supposedly, the problem of evil presupposes that an objective moral standard exists, and morality cannot exists without God, it therefore follows that God must exist. And it's not a very good argument at all. Because if the theist really insi...

Re: Infinite punishment for finite sins
No, not at all.. Does revelations say that some physical object on earth was burning? Nope! Don't be an ankle biter. The phrase "forever and ever" as a reference to the duration of an event is used in both instances. Thus, the annihilationist has good grounds to take the one from Revelati...

Re: Infinite punishment for finite sins
An example ...If I say that a globe is an example of the earth and then crush it, it does not mean that I destroyed the Earth, just the example, the earth still lives on. And the bible has many metaphors such as this, many are complex and some are seriously complex. The garden of Eden story has man...

Re: Deserving punishment?
I am so, so, so frustrated by that pile of lies, childish inflammatory remarks and ignorance I can't bring myself to respond to it. Therefore, what would you have Christians to do to satisfy you? Go to the gas chamber? Drink poison cool aid? Hang themselves? This. . . this is just amazing. Absolutel...

ent unless they were frantically involved trying to witness to everyone to try to snatch them from such a place. John calls the Lake of Fire (Gehenna) the Second Death (Rev. 21:8). Moreover, he tells us that such torment will last "forever and ever", at least for those who worship the Bea...

And many, many more who have not, and never will in their lifetime. What do you with these? I don't do anything with them. At least not by myself. God does not judge people for what they do not know. He judges according to what Christ mentions in John 3. I mean how you fit them into your philosophi...

Re: Why are there so many different interpretations of Hell?
No, we cannot. Hindus see the Hindu gods, Muslims see Muhammed, Westerns see biblical Heaven and Hell. It's all a matter of culturally-induced perceptions. None of it serves as objective evidence of anything.

Re: Deserving punishment?
Yes, but you are the one making unwarranted conclusions. You are inferring that they are condemned because of their upbringing. No, I'm not. I'm inferring that they disbelieve because of their upbringing. Whether or not there is a causal relationship between disbelieving for those not sufficiently ...

Re: Deserving punishment?
No one deserves Hell because of the environment they were raised in. And I assure you, no one will be condemned because of such. But these arguments fail to rightly understand just what salvation is, and also fail to understand why someone would be condemned. I work with kids in that very position....

I can give you some sites that deal with Old Testament violence. Try this:

It should be noted that I think that the article is deeply flawed in many respects. However, it's good for a start.

Re: The Hindu milk miracle
Why do you assume that a Christian Worldview and science are incompatable? I am...not. I don't know how you got to that conclusion. I already demonstrated why attributing it to demons forces you to rely on double-standards with respect to miracles in the Bible. I do not, therefore, consider this ex...

That his reasoning is no better than the Pharisees whom he chastises.
In any event, the point of this thread isn't to figure out how this phenomenon can fit in the context of a Christian worldview, it is to try to offer a plausible scientific explanation if one can be given.
