Re: If babies automatically go to heaven...
If Christianity is true, yes. But we can't be sure. And even if we could establish that it is true, we as humans don't have the right to kill babies. The whole purpose of this life (if Christianity is true) is to decide whether we want to be with God or not. And killing them would be taking away a c...

Re: Do non trinitarians go to Heaven?
Okay Jac - if I'm being a nuisance, feel free not to respond. But most likely because I'm philosphically illiterate, I'm having trouble making sense out of your position. I don't know how to be clearer than I've already been. If A is dependent on B, then A cannot be the cause of B. Thus, if we are t...

Re: Does the Bible condone violence against other religions?
Not to nit-pick, Gman, but you'll have to admit that the one verse (and many others) that I quoted do not specifically address Canaanite gods. In fact, it explicitly says gods from "one side of the earth to another". This could be Allah, Zeus or any such similar "god". Possibly, ...

Re: Do non trinitarians go to Heaven?
I would like to point out, though, that any Theistic conception of God must contain an idea of plurality within the persons of the Godhead if you don't want to be self-contradictory, which excludes Modalism from being a rational choice. This is because God cannot be dependent on anything and still ...

Re: Plantinga's Ontological argument for God
On-topic: okay - it seems that I misunderstood Plantinga's argument when I started the thread. I thought that, unlike St. Anselm's, it did not rely on the assumption that a maximally great being must, by definition, exist in all possible worlds as a basis. Instead I thought that it simply deduces th...

Does the Bible condone violence against other religions?
I would like to hear Christian interpretations of the passages like this: Deuteronomy 13:6 A very straightforward interpretation seems to be that we should kill people of other religions. However, obviously I find it very hard to believe God would command something like that. The non-Christian could...

Plantinga's Ontological argument for God
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ontological_argument It basically goes like this: 1. It is possible that a maximally excellent being exists 2. Therefore, a maximally excellent being exists in a possible world 3. If a maximally excellent being exists in a possible world, then it exists in all possible w...

Re: One God or Many Gods??
Isn't it logically contradictory for multiple omnipotent beings to exist in one world? But yeah, I presuppose God must be omnipotent, which is not necessarily the case.

Re: Is God omnipresent?
It's called an anthropomorphism. God also doesn't have wings, hands, or eyes, and yet the Bible seems to speak of Him having those things as well. Basically, the Bible very often pictures God as doing human things--or doing things as a human would do them--so that we can relate to Him. If that were...

Is God omnipresent?
The Bible indicates several times that God is present everywhere (for example, Proverbs 15:3).
My question here is, how would you rationalize why He needed to "go down" to see if things are really as bad as He had heard in the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah? As well as the Bablyon tower?

An argument against "fine turning" of the universe
Something I've come across reading some atheist website: http://www.creationtheory.org/Arguments/FineTuning.xhtml What do you think? Note: this thread isn't an attempt to disprove the existence of God. I merely want to see the opinions of people here, since I'm sure this isn't the first evolutionist...
