Re: Historical Killings - Christians vs Muslim

Yes, I'm sure. Somebody could make the case that the Bible teaches people to kill if all we did was read the Old Testament. And somebody can make a case that the Qur'an teaches to kill people if we only read the violent verses, but ignore the ones that promote peace. But, If we read the entire Bibl...

Re: Historical Killings - Christians vs Muslim

The difference is that the Bible doesn't tell people to kill others Are you sure about that? First you would have to ask your friend what her definition of a Christian is. I read a trivia quiz in my newspaper today. It asked to what religion Mormonism is a denomination. The answer was Christianity....

What would Muhammed do?

I really laughed at this. I don't know if you will:

"religion of peace", indeed.

Re: Historical Killings - Christians vs Muslim

I really disagree. There was a reason for the Reformation (I am talking historical, systematic murders and persecutions, as I thought SBB was - not individual murders). One could go into all kinds of history and theology regarding this. Did you ever read John's letters? He's stronger in how we as C...

Re: Historical Killings - Christians vs Muslim

Your post is just typical No True Scotsman nonsense. Christians have, and do murder people every day. Sometimes inspired by the Old Testament violence, sometimes for their own selfish needs. Furthermore, a strong case can be made that Hitler considered himself a Christian. Sam Harris has attempted t...

Muslims. Islam is responsible for over 50% of religious wars in history.

Re: Can Christians View Pornography?

While I am not advocating pornography in any way (I can even proudly confess that I've never seen a single porn in my life), it should be pointed out that Jesus says at the beginning of His sermon that the commands He's about give concern the quality of rewards one will receive in Heaven, not one's ...

Re: I feel miserable

"Christian" means Christ-like. None of us are anywhere near Christ-like, and anyone who says otherwise is either lying, or delusional. So yes, you're definitely not being "enough" Christian, you're not being a "Christian" at all. And this isn't something to be ashamed o...

Re: Anime & Anime Images

It's a comic book. The story is different, but contains many ripped off Bleach characters (both in design and personality) of whom Kenpachi is one.

And of course, this didn't go unnoticed. He received tons of negative criticism from the manga communuity.

Are you aware of Nick Simmons' western rip off of Kenpachi and various other Bleach characters?

Re: Questions about slavery in the Bible

Narnia, I'll respond to your post later. What's this? Are you reading the text? It clearly says "When" or "If" a man strikes another person... Not that they should... Exodus 21:20-21 And what's this? Are you reading my posts? I said that they were allowed to beat them. And this i...

It's a hallucination.

Or you're making it up. Either way, "it's a ghost!" doesn't explain things any more than "magic fairies".

Re: Being saved from what? For what?

No. He is saying that you need to abandon selfishness and pride to accept Jesus' gift (which is why he says abandoning these things is a "cost" of accepting the gift of Jesus Christ). Therefore, all those who don't accept Jesus' gift (i.e. non-Christians) do so because of selfishness and p...

Re: Being saved from what? For what?

To illustrate further what I mean by "dishonesty of Christians", see an argument made by Rich Deem on the main site: " In addition, there are missionaries throughout the world proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ and the salvation that He offers as a free gift. Although the gift ...

Re: Being saved from what? For what?

Whether you ultimately have some anti-Christian agenda remains to be seen. I don't. Look at some of my earlier posts, and you will see that I am definitely a Christian (for example, the "Is confession necessary for forgiveness of sins" thread I'd started a few months ago). It usually beco...
