Re: Good argument against Deism?
To answer the original question... Well, the first replier hits the mark pretty well. The way to argue against deism is to give evidence that God interfered with the world. The records of Jesus' claims and miracles are evidence of this. Also, note how the three Abrahamic religions (including Christi...

Re: What needs to be done in order to be saved
I'm sorry to be late to the party, but it seems to me that the framing of the original question and title of this thread assumes that we need to "do" something as a basis of salvation. As I understand, all that is required for salvation to be provided was done by Christ and cannot be done...

Well, I've been out of town for the past couple days, and now I notice there's 3 pages of responses. Thank you all for your responses; they'll take a bit of time to get through, but I'm sure they will be insightful. ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

What needs to be done in order to be saved
When we have all these 'heretical' denominations of Christianity that have various beliefs about Jesus, we need to decide exactly what one needs to believe to be saved. In John 3:16, it says "whoever believes in [the Son] shall be saved." However, here, believe does not merely mean acknowl...

Re: evil and suffering
Gravity is something that happens. Evolution, that is, the change in the inherited traits of a population of organisms through successive generations, is something that happens. However, there is a theory that is derived from the process of evolution that all life on earth is descended from a single...

Re: If babies automatically go to heaven...
Wow, and I thought my topic was finished. Well, since I'm this topic's creator, I might as well give my input on a few of these issues. Regarding "soul sleep", I don't remember seeing Luke 23:43 mentioned, where Jesus said to the criminal that was being executed with him "This day, yo...

The use of "Elohim" and the Tetragrammaton in the OT
I was having a few questions regarding this, especially considering Moses' authorship of the Pentateuch. First of all, if Exodus 6:3 means that the Tetragrammaton was not revealed until Moses' time, then why would Moses add it to Genesis so often? (unless God was doing something rhetorical like sayi...

Re: If babies automatically go to heaven...
Thank you for all your responses. The one that caught my eye was the one that said how it is removing the individual's free will. And to God, free will is more important than a lot of things. I had not thought of that aspect before. Not to mention that it is removing the individual's opportunity to ...

If babies automatically go to heaven...
Then wouldn't abortion be doing the aborted fetuses a great favor by giving them a free ticket to heaven without them having the chance to deny Jesus?
