Re: Geocentric

RickD wrote: That means that You think the earth is physically in the center of the universe, and the sun revolves around it?
No. I did not say that, now did I? I asked a question: you provide your own answer.

Re: Geocentric

When you say the earth revolves around the sun, you have to choose the sun as your point of reference. We naturally want to do that because the sun has a larger mass, but unless we could prove that a point at the centre of the sun is fixed in space, it is arbitrary. When you say the earth is the cen...

Re: Geocentric

According to special relativity, any point of reference is valid. Einstein used the comparison of a person watching a train go by (fixed relative to the surface of the earth) versus a person riding on the train (fixed relative to the train). The speed of light will be the same for either one, but ti...

Re: What needs to be done in order to be saved

Paul told the Phillipian jailer that all he had to do to be saved was "believe on the Lord Jesus Christ" Acts 16:31 When we read verses that use other wording or seem to include other things, we simply must look for the common denominator in them all which is "believe on the Lord Jesu...

Re: Geocentric

Intentional ignorance elevated to a religious virtue is the worst form of self-delusion that I know of. You are wrong to call it intentional ignorance. It is intentional faith. You guys don't seem to get it. Relativity allows for geocentricity, and if you don't understand that it is ignorance on yo...

Re: The Universe Couldn't Come From Nothing

Just as a circle or a Möbius strip has no beginning and no end, time itself may be a closed loop. And I am not saying that these are representative models. I am only trying to say that it may not be fair of us, you or me, to impose our notions of time upon conditions that existed before the birth o...

Re: Geocentric

It saddens me that so few seem to grasp the application of relativity.
If you hold to a Newtonian view of the solar system, you are the one still in the "dark ages".

Re: The Universe Couldn't Come From Nothing

2. we could describe the infinite regression as a set: {1st cause, 2nd cause, 3rd cause, ....} To begin an infinite regression sequence we need to start with the latest cause, and regress: {latest cause, the next to latest cause, the cause before that, … etc.}. We could “never” reach a first cause...

Re: A list of assorted Bible questions that are nagging me

Jac3510 answered the question on rewards pretty well. Remember, the goal in life is to become holy and righteous like Jesus Christ, but it is only achieved by grace (Ephesians 1). Life is like a race running towards that goal (Hebrews 12:1-2) The real question we all should be asking is, "how m...

Re: Atheist argument that is causing my friend to doubt...

Jac3510 I totally agree that salvation is through faith alone. The confusion comes in with the definition of believe. For the sake of clarity I usually add the word trust to go along with believe: not to correct it but to better explain it. Faith is believing/trusting. Salvation is by believing/trus...

Re: Time scale? a very long time indeed.

I believe in the trinity. One God exists in 3 persons, each person being equally infinite, and existing with complete harmony and unity. I believe God created man because He is and has always been loving and created us to love us. We are the happy recipients of His incredibly wonderful love, and we ...

1. If there is a God, he is perfectly loving. 2. If a perfectly loving God exists, reasonable nonbelief does not occur. 3. Reasonable nonbelief occurs. 4. No perfectly loving God exists (from 2 and 3). 5. Hence, there is no God (from 1 and 4). Ok, I will address #2 further. 1. A "loving God&quo...

Re: The Universe Couldn't Come From Nothing

1. the concept of an infinite regression of causes exists. 2. we could describe the infinite regression as a set: {1st cause, 2nd cause, 3rd cause, ....} 3. there are many other infinite sets: ie. {1,2,3,4,5...}, {2,4,6,8,...} {energy in the universe, energy of any previous universe if it existed, e...
