Re: We are tied to Israel
I am saying that God never made a covenant with anyone based on their DNA. Ruth, Rahab, and Uriah were chosen yet not Hebrews. King Saul and Judas were Hebrews and not chosen. There is no covenant without Christ, and there never has been. He Himself is the fulfillment of the Abrahamic Covenant, not ...

Re: Argument from bad design. Very, very bad design!
I'm not a proponent of the "argument from design", but to play along, how can one recognize bad design unless they acknowledge "design" to begin with? Seems to me that there must be purposeful design in order to recognize any flaws in that design.

Re: If the Bible is inerent, and more
Plantiga writes A world containing creatures who are significantly free and freely perform more good than evil actions is more valuable. All else being equal than a world containing no free creatures at all. Now, God can create free creatures, but he can't cause or determine them to only do what is...

Re: If the Bible is inerent, and more
If God can decide what is moral, and have any exceptions he wants, then no one can be more moral than God. That makes it simple. However, I once heard a preacher on the radio say God cannot be capricious in such things. What is right is right and what is wrong is wrong no matter what God wants, IIR...

Re: We are tied to Israel
I think what PL is asking is if they have been replaced? To what I say is no.... And, are we truly done with Israel? I believe that answer is no too. The term "replacement theology" is a misnomer. The church didn't "replace" Israel. The church IS Israel, and always has been, eve...

Re: We are tied to Israel
Becoming a Christian makes you a citizen of the "Israel of God" (Galatians 6:16), not some 10 mile strip of real estate established by the UN in 1948. Only those of the Christian Faith are the seed of Abraham (Galatians 3:7)

Re: Can God Tell Time?
Yes, the question is rhetorical. The obvious answer is "yes". The point, clearly, is that God has given certain time frame references in His Word that clearly disagree with modern prophecy interpretations. No disrespect for God intended (which I guess I should not have assumed would be obv...

Re: Can God Tell Time?
dayage, I am familiar with both sites, but I will need to see more of the external evidence that you suggest is there. I will grant you Victorinus, though one has to wonder what the source of his information was. He certainly wasn't an eyewitness, and almost surely referred to Irenaeus. Nonetheless,...

Re: Can God Tell Time?
jlay, Your point in Deuteronomy is a fair one, though I don't think the audience in Matthew 26 would have taken "you" as a general people as much as in Deuteronomy, particularly given Matthew 21:40-45. As for Isaiah 19:1, the point I want to make is the fact that God "comes on the clo...

Re: Can God Tell Time?
dayage, Sort of a different subject matter, but this is related. You have listed a ton of alleged resources. Can you give some exact quotes? In previous discussions, I have seen similar lists, but those who post the lists either take quotes out of context, or else reference Irenaeus as the soruce of...

Re: Good argument against Deism?
A Deist would probably say that knowledge is both purely naturalistic and is valuable for discovering truth, They could say this, but they would have to justify such a view of knowledge. What is the naturalistic foundation of knowledge, and how can it discover any truth? and that God's existence ca...

Re: If the Bible is inerent, and more
Does it ever seem to you if the Bible is inerent there are millions of people walking the Earth that are more moral than God? If enough interest is shown and I can get up the energy I may try to explain what I mean. But my thoughts are no means origional, so some of you may guess what I am talking ...

Re: Can God Tell Time?
As I see it, preterist are using literal events to defend their position. Events I really have no qualm with. Persecution-literal. Fleeing Jerusalem- literal. Then suddenly we jump to a mystical fulfillment? Not at all. I guess we are focusing on the Olivet Discourse now, though the list I gave muc...

Re: Can God Tell Time?
Haven't studied the history of Caiaphas, but he's more likely to have been living in 70 Ad then he is now. Anyway, you missed the point. Even if you is plural, he was still addressing a first century audience.

Re: Can God Tell Time?
jlay, You didn't answer my first question, so I'll ask again. What reward was given according to each of their works at the transfiguration (Matthew 16:27)? I'm not ignoring context, but I think it is a stretch to suggest that Jesus is promising that some of his disciples would not die within the ne...
